Let the Baalke Era begin!!
This is not even close Scot runs circles around Terry. Scot got us 8 first round picks in 5 years. And even threw in some great late round talent T Brown Morgon RJF Goldson. 3 pro bowlers and 1 all pro. Drafted arguably the best LB and TE in the game today. Sure he had some misses but every team does scroll through the past drafts and see who sticks out you would be suprised at the "bust" rate for all the other teams and realize that we are actually sitting pretty good.

There is plenty of argument about whether or not Scot was a good GM. There seems to be no argument disputing the fact that Donahue was a complete disastor. I think there is no doubt Scot was the better GM. To add to your list above, he made the move that landed Iupati this year. That may turn out to be a very key ingredient to future success for the franchise.
You are only looking at 2 years. He was involved for more than 2 years. But generally he was pretty bad.

yea, scott wasn't that bad. Scott was mediocre but not horrible. Terry was horrendous
McCloughan had his hits and he had his misses but Donahue was on a totally different level all together. The guy was arrogant and cocky, hardly ever at team headquarters while trying to manage the team like a tyrant from LA, virtually kicking Bill Walsh to the curb, blaming the teams failures on the coaches and the previous regime. Donahue will have a hard time if he ever decides to go to a game in San Fran. Albeit Scot was not GM material but I don’t agree with the comparison, Donahue was much, much worse.
McCloughan >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Donahue

#1. McCloughan actually put forth effort! Donahue was too busy playing golf in So-Cal to even be around the facility.

#2. Donahue took a solid team took a 10-6 team right down to 2-14. McCloughan took the 2-14 team and gradually made them better (8-8).

Was McCloughan perfect? No way! But he was waaaaaaaay better than Donahue who singlehandedly destroyed this franchise for nearly a decade.

What do you mean "probably"?
Scotty wasn't as bad as Donahue but he was pretty damn close as far as drafting goes. Donahue was responisble for the total dismantling of the roster and did not draft talent to replace the players that left. McCloughan at least drafter some players that had good talent, i.e. Davis,Willis,Crabtree,Gore, etc.
Terry D couldn't tell the differece between a high school senior and a Sec senior. His evaluation of players was horrible. York was a bigger A$$ for keeping him more than 2 years!

This thread is way off.

Donahue has to be one of the worst GMs in history. I'd place him just over Millen. Not only for his draft picks, but also all the stupid FA contracts that he dished out.

Was he? Or did York tell him to get rid of all the good players to get under the cap?

Talk about revisionist history...
