Somehow he worked it so we could get out every offseason, which saved us who knows how much money. The industry even refers to that strategy now. Agents negotiating contracts will tell teams "Were not doing a Kaepernick deal."

That's what he does well. His job is figuring out who they can sign and for what amount each year and still stay under the cap. Like a great chess player, he has to be thinking several moves ahead. When they restructure a contract it has a ripple effect that means they have to restructure others. It's a constant math equation. Lynch and Kyle pickthe players. He figures out how to sign them or keep them.

Ummm, Paraag is Lynch's boss.

This; if not his boss, he's a peer.

Again, remember how he was "fired"?

All I'm saying is that if there's conflict down the road, or if things go south, don't be shocked to see this f'ers prints all over it.

No, it's his job to not negotiate extensions that have a high likelihood of f'ing us in the future.

Go ahead and believe that. I hope you're right but taking it for granted...not so much.

The burden of proof is on you to show that Marathe has undermined Lynch in any way.
Paraag is a super star in the FO. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't know what they're talking about. Period. This will be a challenging off-season for him, as it will for a lot of NFL teams. Freakin' Saints are close to $100M over the cap, yikes. Sounds like the Rams of a couple years ago. Anyway, the Niners have so many FA's of all kinds it'll be a big-time chess match to see who they can re-sign, much less any FA's to bring aboard. There should be no shortage of some really good players available, too. Lots of potential trades, cuts, etc. Paraag will definitely earn his pay this go around.

Yup, very interesting. Baalke is outstanding at office politics and political infighting. Not so so much talent evaluations. I still remember the A.J. Jenkins draft. One of the worst drafts in 49er history.

I love Praags front loading concepts. It takes courage to pay a billion dollars to a Jerrick McKinnon and gamble that he might not even play a down. But as hard as it is to do something like that, it really has helped the 49ers stay out of cap hell. I believe the 49ers are under the cap right now (defer to AB if I'm wrong) because of the front loading- *and* more importantly they have the leverage over the player because of that. Its up to the 49ers to pay Jimmy or not, vs other teams that can't cut an unwanted player because it destroys their cap.

You're being lazy man. This is all very public and documented history. You're determined to be obtuse about this, fine.

To all the Paraag fanboys, have a blast.

Baalke is in a great position to succeed at Jacksonville. They probably draft Lawrence and have more than $75 million in cap space. Urban Myer hasn't been an NFL coach but he's been successful everywhere he's been. The Jags have nowhere to go but up. Baalke could become GM of the year for the 2nd time.

Don't underestimate Baalke's ability to screw things up. He did it to TWO regimes (Nolan/Harbaugh) while here with similar position. Smith v Rogers anyone? Baalke and Nolan.

I just hope Baalke draft the ACL prospects ahead of John Lynch and outbid the ACL free agents over John Lynch.

It seems Paraag being an issue is a weird horse to champion. Do you know him personally or something?
Wonder if Jed and company are going to hire someone to help or replace Paraag now that he is also vice chairman at Leeds united now. He will have a lot more on his plate now.

Brian Hampton was hired last year.
