Every once in a while, things turn out better than you thought
One good thing about Singletary, he's not afraid to make changes. Don't tell me the Skins "raided" our staff.. there were hints that more than one team had inquired.. and it's not because Foerster was such a great coach. Sing probably allowed him to put out the word that he was available.
I'm REALLY HAPPY it wasn't Manusky!

HC's will RARELY deny coaches under them the opportunity to advance.
Again, the only case in which Singletary HAS TO allow the interview is if the interview is for a HC position. So no, Manusky's not going to end up as Denver's DC!!! as someone speculated.
You're right that Singletary COULD allow an assistant to interview when he doesn't have to.. but if I'm him, and a team wants to talk to an assistant I need to keep, I tell them HELL no!
On the other hand if it's Foerster they want, I pack him a lunch and wish him well in his new career
If it's for a promotion and there is time to find a replacement you would absolutely give permission if you were Singletary. The reason you would is this is the Not For Long, and you never know when you will be working under the one you denied the opportunity to further his career, and because others did it for you.
Unless it is to a rival, or there just isn't the time to find a replacement, HC's RARELY deny permission to promote and those that do regret the decision down the line.
I have a little crow to eat it seems.............

I am assuming some of the requests are promotions

You can decline some promotions (Bengals denying us a chance to interview QB coach zampese for our OC job), but not a promotion to head coach.

I thought you were right on point. Turned out it wasn't Manusky, at least not that we know about Also did you notice that Mike Shanahan was able to get the Texans to release his son Kyle as OC so he could join daddy with the Redskins.. I had not thought they'd do that, even though it makes sense.

Kubiak and Shanny are close and Kubiak knew what it would mean to Shanny to have Kyle as his OC. In turn GK manged to get Rick Dennison who was his replacement when he left for the Texans to replace Kyle. It worked out nicely for both parties.

This news made my day. I was hoping we'd fire him anyway so to hear that it wasn't Johnson, Tomsula, or Manusky is great news.

no. he wouldnt let him leave for a lateral move.
you guys really need to understand the LOGIC behind the forester thing:
the redskins contacted sing, sing said no. forester contacted sing and said he wanted to go (so he can be close to family). why on earth will any coach keep someone around that has just said he doesnt want to be a part of what youre doing? and on top of that, sing is a family guy and understands.
if your position coach is talking to you about how theyd like to work for a different team- why would you keep them? what kind of influance will they have on the team- having someone around that doesnt want to be there...
manusky isn't going to leave unless its for a HC job, or hes not happy with the niners. and as of right now, he has a young up and coming dominate defense. why would he leave that??

The worry was that Manusky was going to interview for a HC job. It'll happen sooner or later, just glad it wasn't now.
