Based on this logic we should have traded Frank Gore and plugged Thomas Clayton in to start....afterall he looked like a stud in the PRESEASON. Also....what was is name who blew up the NFLE a few years back? Obviously we should have kept him and never drafted Crabtree.....
I never saw Gore fumble in any preseason games, and he plays against starters! Smith cant even manage to come in as a second stringer and not throw a few picks and we're talkin preseason. Just for the record, how many picks did Smith throw this preseason against second and third stringers?Another thing, how do you think will ever be successful if our QB can only play semi consistently out of one formation, next season every team we play will know to play against the pass when we are in the shotgun and the run any other time. We need a REAL QB who can get under center without feeling like a fish out of water otherwise....can somebody say PREDICTABLE!

Also, did you watch any of the games this year? The reason we had to pass out of the shotgun was because our offensive line wasn't giving us time to drop back in most situations. How many times did Alex have pressure in his face before he could get to the back of his drop? On top of that, Gore was running the ball better out of the gun.
This post though is a great example of how deluded Smith haters are. His mind is so clouded with hate that he actually thought that Smith threw multiple picks against backups in the preseason, but couldn't be bothered to just hop over to NFL.com to check the numbers before posting this which would have shown him that Smith had 1 int in the entire preseason......far from what he indicated.
I can guarantee you all one thing - Come preseason, smith will be the starting QB and will complete some passes and completely miss his target on others attempts. Davis will then enter the same game and clearly outperform #11, but probably against 2nd teamers.
The smith supporters will then elude to the fact that Davis' performance was against 2nd stringers, while Davis supporters will retort with some type of "still better than Alex ever did" statement... and around and around we go.
P.S. Boomer - Thoughts on Mark Sanchez this year???
