If it helps, he's actually tied for first.

Crabs' drop vs Jax in the end zone is the only ball I can think of that he really should have caught. What other "drops" did he have?
Dropped pass stats are so unreliable and subjective. You really have to watch a player to know if he has dropsies...

1st drive of Bears game for sure. Inside the 10 I believe.

Yeah I think they are counting the non catch able ones that Crabs tipped because I don't recall him dropping that many passes. The only other dropped pass was the one against the Bears on that slant and maybe that one also against Bears the one handed catch..also the one against the Seahawks in the endzone

Oh yea true...it just seems odd to me that he's this far up after missing 5 games...

Vernon has always had this problem. I think we just need to learn to live with it. He is playing so well this year, he can be forgiven. Yes, 2 of the drops would have been TDs in this past game, but we wouldn't have even been in several games this year without his play.
Crabtree on the other hand...I think this has alot to do with missing camp and the first several weeks. He will improve.

Regardless of how many drops, anyone watching last game had to be impressed that the WRs just didn't have their heads in the game. Whose fault is that? Always the HC.
Always. Especially in our team, where our HC isn't an Xs and Os guy, but more a motivater. Well, our WRs weren't motivated to keep their heads in the game, they didn't run sterling routes, they literally gave the game away.(yeah they had help, but they were the most striking goof ups). So, we have a HC not really equal to other HCs by total lack of experience as asst DC , DC, or anything on the Offensive side of the ball, and he has a receiving corps who look like they just woke up. This is bigMike's deal, pure and simple. He has to get in these guys' bonnets, and when they show up on game day, they better be ready...last game they weren't.

Let's take a different angle on these drops. I'm not denying that some of them have come at inopportune times (not that there's an opportune time for a dropped pass):
- VD vs Celek: 9 drops apiece, but VD has 7 more receptions, 4 more TDs, and a higher average yards per reception.
- Crabtree has 32 receptions with 7 drops and 1 fumble. DHB has 9 receptions and 6 drops.

Go back and look at all those TD's Davoi has on those post patterns...He jumps in the air everytime...That is not somethin a natural pass cathcher does..He has gotten better and will continue to work but he will never have Witten, Clark type hands.
I agree, let't take the good with the bad. He has more TD's than drops. sounds good to me.

I know Smith is doing much better now, but I think he's gotta learn the art of throwing the touch pass when he needs to, rather than going for laser beams every time. Watching Montana and Young alternate speeds on the ball was a thing of beauty. I hope Alex can learn to do this too.
