I can guarantee that Rossum is a step above Keith Smith.

If we barely finish at .500 or worse than McCloughan needs to go.

I get that the draft is a crapshoot. You don't watch over 35 years of NFL Football and not understand that.

I get that with the FA market too. Especially in the salary Cap era where people overpay to get the best guy on the list. Nevermind that guy may not be a solid fit in their systems.

It's the moves he makes DURING the season that leave many including myself .

The Rossum move was that kind of move. What the hell prompted the staff to believe that a solid PR/KR and emergency DB was expendable in favor of a scrub WR that didn't even see the field except as a component in a failed attempt to run the "Tazer"?!!!

If they can give me a CREDIBLE answer as to why I will not be so hot. BUt so far as I know they can't.

Yeap. I'm a Scotty supporter, but this whole drop Rossum, letting Sheets get to the Phins, and NOW releasing Spurlock boggles the friggin' mind.

Demetric Evans and Marques Harris have contributed nothing this season, yet they remain on the 53 as well.

I see the thought process there though. Name one year over the last 5 that we didn't have a significant injury to the DL.

There's your answer. Can never have too many bodies on Defense.

~Ceadder

No doubt there is logic in keeping a ton of D-linemen, but Rossum still should have never been cut. Biggest mistake Scotty has made outside the draft IMO (Nolan was responsible for the Antonio Bryant/D-Jax/Lelie/Gilmore/Jacobs mess, which is up there too).

Goddamn...didnt anyone notice that Rossum was getting put on the inactive list for a couple games BEFORE he was released? Doesnt anyone think our coaches especially our ST coach approved of this move? It just so happens Scot didnt fight to keep him on the roster like he did for Jason Hill. Which is understandable Scot drafted Jason not Rossum...seriously...the overreaction here is just epic sometimes.

Blame York, Blame Sing, Blame Raye, Blame Scot, Blame the ball boy DAMMIT LETS BLAME SOMEONE!!

Dude, I'm not overreacting. Cutting Rossum cost the 49ers at least one game this season. I'll bet you $100 Rossum doesn't fumble the same punt Arnaz Battle muffed in Houston. That play ultimately cost us the game.

I'm not a big "FIRE ______!" guy whatsoever, but this misstep with Allen Rossum this season has me questioning what Scotty was thinking in keeping Spurlock instead... only to cut him this week anyway for CB depth (cause Rossum was a backup CB too, ya know).

my bad Nick lol i shoulda been clearer i didnt mean you personally i was jus pokin fun at everyone who wants to fire Scot for dumbass reasons withotu realy taking everything into account. The Rossum cut i dunno if i wouldve done unless i had someone with sure hands back there. but as a returner...Rossum just was NOT getting it done. so i understand why they went that route.

one more thing. The whole he cut Rossum and kept Spurlock thing. Its easy to blame Scot but its been very painfully clear that the coaches have final say over what happens and who gets to see the field. See Hill,Jason. Jones, Brandon. Crabtree, Micheal. O Sullivan, JT. the guys hes shifting around were either inactive guys or PS guys that everyone here wants to kick him otu for. Is there any single significant person that was contributing and he kicked off this team?? what abotu saying the ST coaches saw Rossum not contributing and oking it. what about Raye just not wanting to see Spurlock anymore but curious to keep him around for the "Taser". im just saaying look at everything is all

Ummmm didn't he return one that got called back? This without having the Wedge in front of him?

I'm not saying fire Scotty either. I'm just wondering what the hell he's doing. Less competent GMs' don't make the moves that he's made this season.

An screw the notion that Rossum is injured or inactive for the Cowboys. That move was made on the bye week. Rossum could have benefitted from the time off. Instead he's sent packing. Wow that was such a logical move wasn't it.

I would sign RDub but I would keep him as far away from our return game as I could. That guy absolutely SUCKS as a Return man.

But when he was with Chicago and then New York he was not that bad.

T.P. is just that.

Jones is a negative influence and I wouldn't even contemplate taking him with this young group.

NFL doesn't feel the need to update their website for this information. Some of the players have been picked up by teams.

I would sign RDub but I would keep him as far away from our return game as I could. That guy absolutely SUCKS as a Return man.

But when he was with Chicago and then New York he was not that bad.

Jones is a negative influence and I wouldn't even contemplate taking him with this young group.

My question is how are all these guys available and Scotty picks up Keith "take it to the house" Smith?!!!

Every one of the underlined are 10x better and PROVEN.

NFL doesn't feel the need to update their website for this information. Some of the players have been picked up by teams.

Apparently not. Maybe that's what's going on with Scotty. NFL sabotage of omission.

One would think that they have an updated list of FA players when any are pulled off the wire. And one would ALSO think that they would update the public also considering they adhere to the point spread religiously.

If I'm not mistaken hes with Tennessee.

Kalohe, how would you feel about signing Tyrone Pool, R.W. McQuarters or Adam jones?

I'd pass on Poole, hes just too old, we don't need another aging veteran.

McQuarters, hasn't really done anything in a while, at least as a defensive player that is. And I'd rather go another route to get a return man.

Adam Jones, I'd pass, his attitude has ruined his career and I don't see him changing here either. Of course anything is possible, but then again, I doubt he signs for the vet minimum. Would rather get another young CB or re-sign Eric Green.

This makes sense, but I wouldn't expect too much from Keith Smith. He was a backup with the Lions and only had five starts and four interceptions with them in five seasons.

Here are his stats: http://www.nfl.com/players/keithsmith/profile?id=SMI450370

4 more than Roman.

Again it was the coaches decision to put inactivate Rossum. And again im asking you guys to notice that all the guys that were let go werent given any playing time. hell how many of them were active?? its on the coaches. not Scot.
