Wow, people are ready to right off Bear Pascoe before even seeing him play the first preseason game. Seems pretty crazy premature to me.

I respectfully disagree , it sounds like the the TE coach is being tough on Pascoe by design and it is probably a good sign. I was at the Saturday morning practice and the kid did look pretty good. Here's what Matt Barrows wrote.

That's the way Pete coaches. He wants to see what type of guy you are," Walker said. "I went through it. Coach gave it to me every day. He called me things you would never even think of. But I learned how to be a better player. And that's what he's trying to see if Bear can do."

The close attention also signals the 49ers expect to count on Pascoe during the season. The team parted ways with its former blocking tight end, Billy Bajema, in the offseason and drafted Pascoe to fill that role this year.

Bear Pascoe. The Bear, as he's known in the press trailer, really struggled during his first week. But that's probably by design. The coaches are purposefully being hard on him because they want to be able to count on him this season. A good sign: Pascoe looked like he started to bounce back on Saturday.
