Is Battle really worth a roster spot at this point?

Not gonna hurt us. He's mediocre on his best day. Now, something like the Cards trading Boldin to us.. That would hurt them because Boldin has the ability to shred the Cards when we play them. The Rams losing Holt to us would have hurt them for the same reason, just like losing Bruce to us did. But us losing Battle to Seattle or STL? What's he gonna do to us? Throw a mean block on Walt Harris? Meanwhile, Patrick Willis is making the stop on the runningback anyway so the one thing Battle does well doesn't even make a difference on the play..

PR Specialist? WHAT!? If you mean he can field a punt, I'll give you that. But a specialist? NO. Devin Hester is a punt return specialist. Arnaz Battle was not anywhere near good enough to consider him a specialist. He was just a guy that was back there fielding punts because we had nobody else who was better. We brought in Allen Rossum because we didn't have any good kick or punt returners. People need to understand this.

I know I've said this about Battle in other threads, but this thread is about how we don't need him. The other threads were about other things and the Battle debates were just side discussions. Unless somebody else made a similar thread with the topic being how we don't need Battle and I missed it..

Yeah Battle's a good as gone. I would even keep Ziegler over him.

And yes cut Simms, cut Keasey.

I would keep Zeigler over Battle only because we don't know what we have in Zeigler. We know we have mediocrity in Battle and mediocrity does not cut it. Zeigler might be better or worse than Battle, but we don't know because he hasn't had his chance to prove himself. Battle has had many chances and hasn't done much with them. He was the "most reliable" receiver on our squad for a few years, but who exactly was he more reliable than? A bunch of nobodies! That proves NOTHING.

Basically what I'm saying is I'll take the uknown over the known when the known is mediocrity - at best.

As for Sims, he's garbage and needs to be let go. The reason he's still around is because they dropped Jonas Jennings so we need some depth, but Sims has already proven he can't handle the RT position so we'd be better off picking up a tackle elsewhere.

Zak Keasey is just a complete joke and has no business being on this team.

Yes definitely Keasy and Simms and sadly Battle. I like Battle he has worked his ass off on some pretty crappy teams, dude deserves better, but this pro football a serious business.

Battle if cut will play elsewhere, he is a fierce downfield blocker and is a consummate pro, he is a go to guy on third downs who seems to know where the sticks are, all that said I think we do have better talent on this roster so it is nothing personal it is all about the business of winning, I will miss Battle especially on 3rd downs!
