Steve DeBerg, was our starter until Joe Montana took his Job, The DeBerg went to Denver, and lost his starting job to John Elway, so Deberg found himself starting for Tampa Bay, were of course Steve Young took his job. DeBerg was replaced by three hall of Fame QBs
Doesn't JTO have similar track record of being in camp when a team drafts or trades for a better QB, in Green Bay he lost his job to Aron Rodgers, I think he was backing up when New Orleans traded for Drew Bres, I heard he has bounced around the leauge a lot ad always is replaced by a better QB.
So there it is the REAL reason JTO is starting .... Nolan that genius, mad man. that man among men has found away to insure that next season we will be in position to draft or trade for a great QB.

I would hardly call Drew Brees a bust as he threw for over 3000 yards in his second year.
Unlike Alex Smith, Brees proved he could move the ball.

Unfortunately, now we're the San Diego and Tampa Bay of the story....

Point is were ever Deberg went he was replaced by someone better, it seems that JTO has the same luck so it goes to follow that JTO will be replaced by someone better

Eventually, yes. Not a soul on this board can argue with that.

David Carr and Tim Couch. And I can name a dozen more.
And both those guys were better statisically than Smith in their first three seasons.

I was hoping sooner say no later than next season he gets replaced ala Steve DeBerg, you know with a future Hall Of Fame QB

DeBerg was replaced by the following QBs:
1. Joe Montana
2. John Elway
3. Steve Young/Vinnie Testaverde
4. Dave Krieg
Maybe Alex Smith can be as good as Krieg.

Yea I would go for any QB on that list, over Smith or I would be happy if Smith turned out as well as any of those guys!

Didn't Montana replace him when he went to KC, also?

I think so and that was his best year:
his best year in 1990 with a 101.2 quarterback rating, passing for 3,444 yards, 23 touchdowns and only 4 interceptions.
If JTO is anywhere near this, we go to the Superbowl.

Smith will replace JT before the season starts. JT loves to give the ball to other team.
"Ahhhhhhhh, take the ball and leave me alone!" said JT O'Sullivan in every game he's ever played in the NFL.
