Would the cost to get him keep us from being able to do that? Another issue is would such a cost put us in a hole? We all remember how what we gave up for Trey Lance hurt the team. Would we at risk of repeating that? I'm all for looking into acquiring Garrett, but if the cost exceeds a certain point, we may need to be weary.

Niners aren't giving all their draft picks for him. Remove DE from that list if they acquire him.
How are you even comparing Trey Lance who was an unknown to trading for Myles who is a proven player. The comment about losing draft capital sounds contradictory when you talked about Lance. Wouldn't you trade your picks for a proven player

he probably doesn't want to play for any of those teams. he'll probably give the browns a short list of teams he'll play for, and it will be between those teams.

Does he have a no trade clause? Kinda important if he does.

the logic is teams won't give strong draft capital and then he refuses to fly to that city. the nfl saw that with hassan reddick. jets traded for him and he sat out much of the season. it was a disaster. so teams want to know a guy is bought in on their operation to trade him in.

He said he wanted to win, what team picking top 10 team is built to win now? But still I think it will take take at least 3 1st rounders, but he'll end up in KC for a fraction of that.

It's about the value of the player. The Browns would be crazy to take the trade for only the 11th overall.

Outside of OL every position will benefit with his addition on defense. Myles and Bosa have proven to have both power/speed against pass/rushing. It would elevate our coverage and force a 1 dimensional run, add Fred Warner and Robert Saleh
Make it happen.

i don't know about that. he is turning 30 in season. he may have only 2-3 years of high level play left. what is nice about a rookie is that guy is on a 4 year low cost deal, with a year 5 option.

Getting an All Pro for a draft pick is always good business as long as you can afford it. The bust rate for 1st rounders isn't great.

Agreed, look what happened when we traded Buckner

Nobody is a proven player in the future. Predictions are hard, especially about the future. We just picked up a proven DT. How's that going? A different DE. How'd that work out. Proven is on a different team, with different team mates, a different system, different coaches, a different age, a younger player, and a healthy year that is not assured in the future, and a higher statistical risk of injury and longer recovery time due to age and wear and tear. The only thing proven is a Huge Bill, and the draft picks you traded away.

At least the bill for a rookie is proven small, as are the first 4 years, the fact that you need them to offset the many stars you are already paying on this team, and the statistical need to have twice as many draft picks as you need new players.

Deebo, Mitchell and/or Mason, #11, one of the 4th rd picks and 2026 2nd... that will be hard for other teams to outbid

49ers get MG and 2025 2nd rd pick

This would be expensive but man it would be a huge missing piece. Id love us to make this trade, even if it hurts the cap down the road. We should to take a chance like this to finally have a consistent pass rush.

as long as the offer is feasible. We could then use a couple picks on o line. Maybe sign a center in free agency. We would be in good shape. I hope we pull it off

Well none of those teams in the top 10 are contenders so that isn't a good point. Myles wants on a contender. Niners had a down year due to injuries. Loaded with talent. I can see him wanting to play here. I also understand it will take more. But I'd package 11

What could a team outside of the top 12, save for us, even offer where Cleveland wouldn't hang up the phone immediately? I get what Garrett wants. But Cleveland has to be willing. If Cleveland trades a Hall of Fame pass rusher, in his prime, for a pick in the 20s or 30s, they may as well fold that team. Or even a boatload of picks- the mere fact that any other contending team's draft pick starts in the 20s or 30s should eliminate them from Cleveland's perspective.

That's pretty good. Cleveland gets a receiver to replace Cooper, two quality starting running backs, and 11 overall. Good playcaller too. I'd make that offer. Although I wonder how the team would take that. It is a business. But it's one thing to let Deebo's deal expire and he seeks greener pastures. Its another to trade him to frickin Cleveland.

When a player like Garrett becomes available you do what it takes to get him. He is better than anyone we can get at 11

Plus, we will have close to 80 million in space after we restructure Warner and Kittle

I expect us to be major players in free agency. We will have plenty of money to sign key free agents, extend Purdy and re-sign Greenlaw.

I was referring to how that three year loss of draft capital ultimately hurt the team. My point was less about Trey and more about that.
