Myles Garrett requests trade

I'd still rather trade up for Abdul Carter - would take less to make a deal, and you get him on a rookie contract for 4-5 years

but I'd be pretty pumped if we got Garrett, and could definitely see Lynch making an offer

yeah, Deebo would probably have to be part of it for it to make sense with the cap

edit: or trade Deebo in another deal

Myles Garrett is worth more than any player the Niners can get at 11. Send the pick

i don't know about that. he is turning 30 in season. he may have only 2-3 years of high level play left. what is nice about a rookie is that guy is on a 4 year low cost deal, with a year 5 option.
It doesn't matter. I don't have any more trust in the FO anymore making the right moves - whether they bring in Garrett or not, it will end up being the wrong move.

Yea but there's always the risk the guy may be a bust. Niners 1st round track record isnt great.

Carter may be a total bust or take years to adjust to the league. Myles Garrett is the best defensive player in the league.

risk in doing or not doing. myles may have plantar fasciitis in October and there goes his career. that may cost him a season and he's never the same. team needs to decide, are we all in to win now, or do we want a stable of cost controlled bright young talent. i doubt carter enters into the equation, he's mocked as early as 1 overall.

You can't put "cost control" in a trophy case.

sure you can. lot of the teams that win have young cost controlled guys. kc has mcduffie, worthy, bolton, karlaftis and so forth
Anyone thinking we should draft a rookie instead is out of their minds maybe if you were guaranteed a pro bowler we've already been through this when we traded Buckner, we are talking about having two DPOYs on each end.
Carter leaves you money to resign Greenlaw. Having two highly priced DE would be awesome, except we would be run on every down

Not if they unload devah.
We're going to pay cap money and draft picks for a 14+ sack leader? We're going to sign Brock. I thought we wanted a team.

Here's the reality. If you're going to pay some stars, you've got to balance that out with rookie talent and contracts. Paying stars at their peak earnings hurts both cap and draft capital, and at that point, a Very high percent of them will drop off in performance and availability, and longevity, and result in dead cap money. It's a play for desperate losers.

I'd be more than happy to let Hufanga, Greenlaw, and Jennings walk or trade Deebo for Garrett. We let 3 of the 4 go restructure Garrett and we have the nastiest pass rush for the next 3 years

Myles Garrett will cost more than just #11. The Browns GM literally said he wouldn't trade him away for two 1sts.
