Sam Darnold is lightyears better than Josh Johnson. One thing about Darnold is that he can swindle some fans into falling in love with him. He makes some of the craziest wow, elite-level throws that few QBs can make and then follow up with bad plays like throwing boneheaded INTs or completely missing wide open schemed open receivers.
So like Jimmy G but with more arm?
Lol I was going to mention he's a lot like Jimmy except instead of living in the middle he lives downfield or outside of structure plays.

Makes total sense.
We needed a 3rd QB with starting experience.
Seems like a good guy unlike Baker, huge upgrade on the likes of Johnson.
Sweet.

Easy layup pass for eight yards:
Darnold: "I'm going deep!"

Nice competition for Lance. Should be interesting.

Darnold accepted to sign here knowing he would probably be number 3 or even worse number 4 behind a rookie?
There wasn´t any teams that would want him as a back up? Why did he sign so fast?
It´s really weird. I wait for the salary.

He almost had the Panthers in the playoffs, has dealt with an indecisive QB situation with dignity, and his career arrow seems to be pointing up rather than down. We were always going to sign a vet backup with Purdy's uncertainty and there is a distinct chance he will play given what happened last year. I'd much rather have him than a guy on the decline like Dalton or a guy who is a personality issue like Winston.

Exactly the kind of move JL was talking about and you see the urgency to get him in here; give him an entire offseason with our guys, Griese, etc, see what happens..

I love how we all played mental, just gymnastics to make this seem like it's awesome.
good depth for sure - even darnold could have kept us in the Philly game.

Stash on the roster to trade back to the Jets mid season.
Or he can turn into our Geno!

and instead of being a good QB like Jimmy... Darnold is bad.
