Although as a backup he would not have a lot of leverage to force a trade...

Yeah, as a backup - he won't have much leverage. The front office didn't budge on deebo, I doubt they'd budge on Lance if they didn't want to. It also requires suitors to antagonize the situation. Someone like deebo, Aiyuk, Bosa etc will have a ton of suitors who will probably overpay comp wise (if they really want them). I don't think Trey has that right now. I may be wrong but I don't think so.

I'd be surprised if Trey would want to stick around if Brock locks down the job and is healthy and producing the way he did last year but IF that was the case and Trey wanted to stick around they could always do a small extension to get around the 5th year option. I think the Packers may have done something like that with Love but not 100% on that. But of course very different situation there as they're handing him the job so of course he's want to stick around.

Gotta imagine Trey would want to compete for a starting job somewhere else if we moving on.

But I still maintain that trading him now for cheap isn't the smart move either. I'd rather just let him walk and keep the QB room as strong as possible right now than move him for a 3rd rounder or even less before the season.

Just wish training camp would get here finally so we can stop this stupid back and forth and talk actual facts and results and see how it all shakes out and which version of Trey, Sam and hopefully Brock we get in camp/preseason.

His 5th year option is coming up next year, and if he wants to be here, he's going to have to beat out Darnold for qb2 at the minimum. He's going to be making too much to be riding the pine. I am cautiously optimistic that he can do this, time is running out though.

Why the duck do I want my qb doing that. I want a qb not a f**king lb. Give me Brees, Roethlisberger, montana, Fouts, moon. Don't give me ray f**king lewis

Lmao…

Yes this is the only training Trey is doing and no other QB is working on their cardio and agility.

I remember how fans were excited with Kap's physique and workout regimine...

There are literally videos, posts and stories about Lance working with a QB guru and you wanna bring up another lazy Kap comp?

Can't say I'm surprised. Posting as good as your kicking.

That's how you prevent injuries!

I'm just saying what he's doing means nothing like it did for kap.

I'm glad he is working on being a qb. I don't really care for videos where he's trying to out-physique nick bosa.

I remember how fans were excited with Jimmy's summer break regimine,...you included.

So we can spin this multiple ways and outline the hypocrisy.

Which guy had the better big game performance between the 2, btw?

Was it the one that was more physically fit as a grueling season came to a close?

You mean the two seasons he had before he got figured out? The guy who couldn't read a defense who relied solely in his physical attributes?

You mean that pass to Crabtree that was batted by sherman When the game was on the line? Or the repeated incompletions to Crabtree when the superbowl was on the line?

All I know is Jimmy's career has lasted way longer despite being "mediocre", and has made a ton more money.

At the end of the day teams still wanted Jimmy. Nobody wanted kap.

He stayed on the field didn't he? So his physique must've helped.

I don't think that works. The 5th year thing is league mandated, and if you just extend without taking the option I imagine you risk developing him then losing him to another team. I don't know the details, but I imagine that is how it works.
Those cardio / power machines Trey and Avery Young (?) are pumping look dope. I wish my gym had those .

It's not mandated. It's an option for a reason lol. Obviously you pick it up after the 3rd season so you can't wait to see how a player does in year 4 and then pick it up - see Saquon Barkley situation.

But you can absolutely get an extension done IF the player is willing. Usually they don't though and you likely have to tag them like the giants did to keep them. This situation is obviously different since Barkley was the unquestioned starter and Lance would in that scenario be expected to stick around as a backup which as I said before would be surprising to see him accept. And honestly if he did I'd question his competitiveness.

Throwing the ball from the pocket is how you prevent injuries. Making quick decisions from the pocket prevents injuries.

Yup. As does pocket presence.

Yes, let's pretend three of the 4 QB injuries we suffered last year werent basically from the pocket. You can claim Jimmy's wasn't since he could've just taken the sack and likely been fine but still kind of dumb to pretend QBs only get injured when running.

Yeah, selfishly for the team - you'd keep Trey around as a backup, regardless of how he feels. Yeah, I think Green Bay did something unique this year with love. Idk exactly how it was done but I remember reading that they did an extension but turned down the fifth year option.

i think Brock will be participating in camp early on. So it'll be interesting how the reps are split up. I expect that Brock will get first team reps and then sam/Lance will split second team reps. As camp goes on, it'll be telling of how the team is feeling about which player.

Right, the QB injuries that result from designed runs are what annoy me. If it happens in the pocket, it's unfortunate, but part of the game.

it annoys me when the play caller puts the most important player in all of sports (QB) at risk when they don't have to, you know? I understand running here and there - there is a time and place, but you have RUNNING BACKS for a reason. Lol

i love how Brock has enough athleticism to generate scrambles that make off schedule plays. I think Lance has a great physical skill set to help him when it comes to the passing game by the way he can move around and avoid players - but I don't like running him like a full back. I actually think Lance should of passed a lot more, whether he was good at it or not, because his athleticism would of helped bail him out of messed up pass plays. Does that make sense?
