Samson Ebukam signs with Colts

He's got a good track record in LA...just 25 yrs old, 6-3 245-250. Grabbing a division rival's FA is a good move. Agree on Hyder...now that they've restructured Ford's contract, there should be a good deal of cap space to work with.

His motor better run hot. He only averages about 20 snaps a game.

Haha. I see mainly effort/coverage sacks and pressures on tape.

Shows how credible some people's football opinions are on this site.
I know he isn't a household name but the fact that people don't know a pretty solid divisional rivals player is kinda telling..

Not a bad deal.
Ebukam great signing for the price he's similar to Hyder. I think hyder is gone
I mean that's not nothing

IMO this is more a Blair replacement then straight up starter though.
Dudes profile is damn near the same as haason reddick...

Gonna watch how he did vs Arizona and Seattle in particular.

Great point! I forgot they let Blair go.

Im reading a smaller sample size. I see this guy as a rotational player who will give solid effort while in there.

Good. I'm a huge proponent of having as athletic edge rushers as possible. That's one of the big advantages of edge players in a "3-4." Those "3-4 OLB" edge players offer more versatility with manufacturing pressure and coverages, running down ball carriers, etc. And given the proliferation of mobile QBs in today's league, it's even more beneficial to have athletic edge players.

This is why I always scoff at people pigeonholing themselves to antiquated "3-4", "4-3" labels. Not using "3-4 OLB" in a "4-3" in 2021 is dumb and a disservice. I'm so thankful that the 49ers realize this. Saleh brought this mentality here, and it looks like DeMeco is continuing it.

I like the signing. But I think we need more.

i saw a tweet showing the Rams using him to spy on Jackson when they played Balt. We can use someone to combat the mobile QB's. Now get Reddick too.
Samson is pretty damn good, like that guy. Cool name too.

The only way I see the 49ers getting Reddick or Lawson is if Williams doesn't come back. They don't have the $ otherwise.
Another positive.
