Whitner was saying on KNBR yesterday that lots of guys were pissed on the plane home about that play call sequence. He still doesn't understand what Harbaugh was thinking to this day.

Saints fans can EAD after that terrible contact to the neck call. The way brees celebrated as if it was a great call pissed me off even more. Was Brooks supposed to pause, lower himself because brees is a midget, then proceed with his tackle?

And the textbook 'spearing' of Crabtree right in front of Crabtree that later, he admitted he was seeing stars from.

As much as id love to have seen a flag there, the contact started within 5 yards, the ball might not have been catchable, and he didn't hold on abnormally long. The refs aren't going to decide a Super Bowl on that type of contact, and the Ravens knew it.

But, there were several other moments of that game where the refs screwed us over big time.

Watching this really makes you wonder wtf kind of route Crab was running there. It's amazing that Kap made him look like a #1, and carried him to a 1k yd season (did the same thing with a 33 year old Boldin). In 2012, Crab and Kap were on pace to have 1440 yds and 20 TDs in a 16 game season. No QB ever has, nor ever will carry Crab like that again.
I can't believe all the haters in here. lol !!!!

Crab had 1,003 yards and 8 TDs with Carr a couple years ago.

kudos's CC ... no one ever brings that up ...... or the time frank gore was wide open in the flat against seattle in the nfc championship game when kap threw the pick to Malcolm Smith after sherm swatted it away. no one was within twenty yards of him ..... damn we missed some big plays.

Sports Science disagrees.

Also, you can't hold, period. Within 5 yards and certainly not after 5 yards. You can jam and make physical contact within 5 yards in an effort to move a WR off their route but you can't hold. Defensive holding is one of the more common calls by officials (esp. today).

The non-call sprearing right before this play was just outlandish. IMHO, it was even more violent than this Saints non-call as it clearly had intent to injure (launching full weight with the crown of the helmet up through a player's face darn near knocking him out). It could be used as a textbook training clip today.

There are a billion other threads you can go post in instead if this one isn't of interest to you, ya know.

No, you don't understand. The refs didn't make a bang-bang call in real-time and err on the side of "letting them play" at the end of a game. They were secretly screwing the 49ers. It's what Goodell wanted. He wanted Ray Lewis to ride off into the sunset. It was all preordained.

Meanwhile, in an alternate universe, the 49ers win the Super Bowl (thanks to a defensive holding), and the Ravens equivalent of NCommand says, "it's pretty obvious why Jimmy Smith was flagged: Colin Kaepernick was a young star with a meteoric rise to fame; the league wanted to prop him up and make him the face of the league."

This is why these narratives are so asinine. You can come up with narratives for practically every player/team in the league.

Solid year, but really doesn't come close to the run he had with Kap in 2012. Kap really made him look like a top 3-5 WR in the league. Even with Alex slowing Crab down that year (had him projected for 800 yds and 6 TDs before Kap took his job), they still passed those numbers with Carr.

Again, 1450 yds and 20 TDs projected over 16 games. It really is wild what Kap did with mediocre/past their prime WRs. He would've looked really good with a real #1.
