Just by looking at the total yards from JG, CJ and Mully...imagine he doesn't get hurt, his numbers might not be far off from Mahomes and that's with the current talent (guys off and on from injuries, etc).

Switch teams / QBs and then ask yourself how the QB's stats could look

The obvious choice right now is Mahomes. However, if a healthy Garoppolo were the KC QB right now, there is not doubt he could put up some awesome numbers as well. I can't recall any team in the past 10-15 years that has had the depth in quality offensive weapons KC has right now. That crew is epic.

It will be fun watching a lot of these young QBs in the coming years to see how they adjust to the league in their second and third years.

This depth of quality weapons that you constantly gush over is basically Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce. They lost their star running back, their #2 WR is as injury prone as they come. Granted, most teams dont have a Kelce/Hill combo, but to say this is the best collection of offensive weapons in the last 10-15 years is truly ridiculous IMO.

So give us a team that had more.

Watkins has done well when healthy. Conley is a big target who would start on a lot of teams. Ware was a top 20 RB before Hunt arrived. Hill and Kelce are just freaks.

The fact they lost Hunt but Ware put up 125+ total yards shows how loaded they are.

Watkins is never healthy. So I have no problem excluding him from your idea that no team has been this loaded from a weapons perspective in 10-15 years. Conley was someone that was regularly ridiculed in the Alex Smith thread prior to this season, so I am excluding him too. Hunt is gone, and Ware was mentioned as a possible cut before this season. Excluding him as well.

Like I said, right now, this group of quality weapons is Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce. And Mahomes is still shredding teams.

So over the past 15 years?

Torry Holt, Isaac Bruce & Marshall Faulk

Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin & Edgerrin James

Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne & Edgerrin James

Antonio Gates, Vincent Jackson & Ladanian Tomlinson

Julio Jones, Roddy White & Michael Turner

Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, Davante Adams & Eddie Lacy

Antonio Brown & Le'veon Bell

Marques Colston & Jimmy Graham

Chad Johnson & TJ Houshmanzadeh

Randy Moss & Julian Edelman

This wasnt hard dj. I named these groups off the top of my head. I dont know how it would be possible to believe that any of the above are not even on par with the Travis Kelce Tyreek Hill combo.

You can't excuse Watkins because he is hurt right now. He played in 9 straight games at the beginning of the season and compiled 519 with a 13 yd ave. Denver shut him out. So what you have is a near 1,000 yard receiver as #2. Also, even when he wasn't targeted, the threat of his speed demanded a quality DB which allowed more room for Hill and Kelce. Sorry, you don't get to leave him out.

Your Ram combo was not together within the 10 year window.

James' last two years (08/09) were just faint shadow of his Indy career.

Of the others, only the Chargers have a TE to match Kelce and we have all seen how much a TE of the quality of Gates, Gronk and Kelce can add.

Sorry, I stand by my original statement. No other team has had the balance of offensive weapons the Chiefs have had when Hunt was with the team, add Watkins.

I already gave you my choice of Mahomes as things stand now. What do you want?

FWIW, Reid's offense on first and second downs is the most varied/complicated in the league. He not only has some of the best pro concepts, he uses a ton of college stuff in there as well. It is not until he gets to 3rd down that he comes back to a more standard pro offense. But those early down sets are just crazy. He has fresh stuff every game. His interns must never sleep digging through all the college game film. Hard to game plan for him.
Kelce has broken all his career highs, with 3 games left to go .

So has Hill .

Mahomes. Not only young and more dynamic - he's on a rookie contract too.

Not really close.

Its baseless, John.

I know. Just seems like people want to go out of their way to minimize the amazing season and talent that this kid has. Pretty funny to me that anyone would say Jimmy G but I know its just because they are 49er homer fans.

Regardless of the contract I think Mahomes is clearly the more talented player. Does anyone in here REALLY think that any GM in football would take anyone other than Mahomes if starting a franchise?

I leave Watkins out because he is a 500 yard 3 touchdown receiver. That is what he is. What he would have been on pace for had he been healthy for a full season is not relevant to me. He is what he is. Its been the same for every season sans 1. I would be willing to bet every single combination I listed above has a 500 yard/3TD equivalent player that I didnt mention.

You say 10 year window now when your original comment was 10-15 year window, which is what I was referring to.

Its not about what I want. I just disagree with your assessment of the Chiefs weapons in comparison groups in the last 15 years. I think there are plenty that are just as good. You dont. So we were discussing it. No hard feelings or anything.

Is contract also in consideration ?

How about the fact that Jimmy has a near 1 for 1 TD to INT ratio over two years?

And what about character? You want the face of your franchise poking ugly pornstars? Imagine if that was Kap after signing his team friendly deal.

Banging porn stars is bad character ?
Really a total waste of time going though pages of wanna be KC fans. Hey it's ok, you can bail go to their site and buy a new cap to go with the move. I voted for Mahomes for right now, but I didn't moon over him, look to give him some kind of love like what I've read here...Hate this thread now..
People must be forgetting that Alex Smith had the best rating for a passer last year. Here's another fun fact. Alex Smith had the most deep passing yards. I repeat Alex Smith had the most deep passing yards. Let that sink in!

He is notorious for dump offs and short passes yet he has the most deep yards and is the highest rated quarterback? You've got to be joking me. All of you get off Patrick Mahomes nuts. He's a very good quarterback and very promising however Alex Smith was having almost an MVP type season last year at quarterback as well. Dam the selective memory in here is great.

Patrick Mahomes will eventually be a top-five quarterback he's just not there yet in my opinion
Again, it isn't so clear cut. Mahomet has looked phenomenal. One of the greatest seasons ever and an MVP candidate.

But we are talking about starting a team. When you start a team, you won't have great players everywhere. We see who we are without Jimmy G. Who are the Chiefs without Patrick Mahomnes? A playoff squad with an outside chance of winning a Super Bowl.

If their backup is still Chad Henne I don't fancy their chances of winning anything without Mahomes.
