He's fine, but also a FA after this year and not worth resigning.

Give King 6-7 million in year 1 and then the vet minimum for the next three and King gets his money up front and the 9ers get a probowl punter for 2019-2021 for less than they're paying Pinion (the only real money being this year, which they're not using anyway).

Pinion is inconsistent.

How's that fine?

Edit- Maybe not as horrible as he was before last year.... but still enough for me to want to get someone who is better... who is available.

And the fact, in a certain situation... if ever need be in a tight game, we can call a trick play. Also, hasn't King chased down returners before... I know the Chiefs got him good one time.. but he's shown he could be a good last line of defense.

lol
This is the guy who said his stats matter more to him than if the team wins or loses.

I'm sure Shanahan gets real hot and bothered over players saying stuff like that.

King is a really great punter, top 5 in the NFL but he's also kind of a diva and is penalty prone so I'm sure there will be teams that just don't want to deal with that crap, especially from a punter.

A world in which a top 3 or 4 punter is only getting top 15 money over the life his deal in exchange for the money being front loaded? (The 9ers have been front loading all their deals this year)

Specialists get treated like crap anyway! Good on him for being an individual. Obviously the penalties are an issue but I can't remember many. Just make it clear on signing that you get cut if you hurt the team.

Btw he's also really strong in the community, he's just a bit of an oddball.

Oh come on, much dafter things have been done by players, just because all other punters are reserved and boring.

Because this is exactly the attitude you need from a punter....

Yep. Been in the league for six years and has racked up three unsportsmanlike penalties. We've now seen two of the three.

That's three more than any of the 31 other punters in the league last year.

King had a net average that was 1.4 yards higher than Pinion. Pinion had more punts inside the 20, fewer touchbacks (Pinion had on TB all year) and forced more fair catches.

Smarter to just extend BP, who will probably cost less and has improved each and every year so far.

And that's why King cares more about stats, let's be honest, no punter has ever been picked for being on a winning team.

I like Pinion but he's inconsistent and in a contact year. Now's the time to look for an upgrade. I'm even tempted to draft the Texas guy.
