I never understood this pick. Chip Kelley traded up with the Chiefs for Garnett when Cody Whitehair appeared to be a much better fit for their offense, AND Whitehair went in the middle of the 2nd round.

You mean Baalke traded up

It seems like health is an issue at nearly every position with this team. QB, RB, O line, DB's and receivers. With so many injuries, maybe York should see if Stanford Medical Center or U C Berkeley wants to pay to put their name on the stadium. The nickname possibilities are endless. The big ward (no pun intended). The emergency room. Trauma field. The could have an ambulance siren every time they score. Maybe they get free medical services thrown in.

LMFAO. I love this!

From my recollection, Kelley really wanted Garnett, despite the fact that he was more of a fit for Harbaughs power run system.

I thought I remember Kelley gushing about Garnett after the Stanford pro day

Don't feel bad. Plenty were happy with it. The consensus was that we got the best guard in the draft that year.

That's the Truth.

Any word on Joshie Garnett from Camp?

He's been starting with the 1st team at RG.

Here's what our OL coach stated...

"He's been taking reps with the ones now (with Richburg out during the offseason program, Person slid over to center and Garnett entered at right guard). He's a talented guy and it's a shame he's had to battle through these hardships. He's one of our most explosive guys, along with the athleticism, so I would love to see Josh put together a string and make a run at winning one of those jobs."

We have talent on this team. Never the question. We just need guys to become just a little more durable. Some luck would help too.

Totally agree

Thanks! No doubt he has the talent, but I'm not sure he has the heart.

I would not question his heart personally, I think it's just sad that he's always getting injured...

We also had a player like him before he got drafted (Loomey) and now, he's playing Center at Dallas... looks pretty good.

This gotta be the year for the G-Man!!
Dude mad it through OTAs. I'm shocked we haven't handed him a top 10 multi year contract yet.

He might have. But I seriously doubt Baalke gave a crap about what Chip wanted.

WE SHOULDA GOT MICHAEL THOMAS SMDH!

At this point we don't have much else coming off the bench.
I hate to say it but I do not like our guards/centers coming into the season. I was extremely surprised lynch and Shanahan didn't bring in anyone that can possibly take a spot. Tomlinson/Richburg/person worries me. I was expecting interior lineman in this year's draft. like the 4th round would have been perfect instead of taking a Punter

Agree

If Richborg [sp] plays like they envisioned then we'll be much better off.
This MoFo better produce.

I think Wishnowsky was a bigger upgrade at the position and team tag any available interior OL at that point.
