I think Ahmad Brooks is getting traded at some point this year though...
well between lynch last year and maybe this kid plus i think the wheeler vet is a nice player we signed,,, it should light a fire under his ass,,,,, i just think with the two picks today, not only are we hoping they are good players this year,, i think they were drafted with the future in mind . we got some guys who are either getting up there or are entering their last years/ you MUST infuse youth. remember what took place with our defense in the mid 90's. what good was it to have a good offense when norton, mcdonald and others got old and slow together.... i love this team and yes i love this front office because they are forward thinking. its best to be pro active and not reactive. it payed off last year with the two backers we took

2013 + 2014 Season Stats
105 Tackles
29,5 Tackles for Loss
15,5 Sacks
1 Interception
Eli Harold Virginia Round 3, Pick 15, Overall Pick 79 by San Francisco 49ers
Height 6-3
Weight 247
Arm Length 33
Hand Size 9 3/8
40-yard 4.60
10-yard 1.61
Vertical 35
Broad 10´03
Shuttle 4.16
3-cone drill 7.07
Bench press 24
ESPN´s Take
He has a high upside as a pass-rusher, with several pass-rush moves and good athleticism and closing burst.
Mike Mayock´s Take
I'm surprised he lasted this long. Harold fits with what (49ers defensive coordinator) Eric Mangini wants to do. This is a perfect fit.
CBS Sports
- Quick starter out of his stance with burst and long-striding acceleration
- Launches himself like a track athlete from his three point stance, keeping his pad level low with proper leverage
- Agile feet to sidestep blockers in space and terrific speed in pursuit to chase down ballcarriers
- The motor never quits, always going full-speed to the ball until the whistle
- Does a nice job re-setting his eyes after his initial rush doesn't work
- Natural dip to turn the corner around the tackle without slowing down
- Better pass rusher than run defender at this point
- Hand technique needs work to better stack-and-shed and untie himself from blockers
- Limited experience dropping in space or playing in reverse
Pro Football Spot
- Mom died when he was 18, has driven him to succeed with an intense demeanor and work ethic
- Fantastic agility and feet
- Excellent speed and quickness off the edge, first step is explosive
- Top notch bend/flexibility around the edge
- Increasingly violent and aggressive with hand usage as his career has gone on
- Relentless motor
- Length to keep lineman's hands off his frame
- Needs to add 10 pounds of muscle
- Too aggressive as a tackler, over-pursues due to out of control attempts
- Still learning to diagnose run plays/misdirections better

Violent seems to be the theme for all 3 of these picks...Armstead (violent hands), Tartt (violent hitter) and now Eli (violent pass rusher). Hmmmm.
Baalke like it rough.

i really really think by not rushing to sign a inside backer they are confirming bowman is ok,, he and michael are pretty darn good,, we also signed three vets plus moody to compete there. you know darn well they will draft another inside backer tomorrow, that is what they do,, but i tell you and maybe i am just being a blind homer,, if the season started today,, i would be fine with the linebackers we have now, including this kid today we picked

I forget was our defense inept last year or was it the offense.
I could have sworn our defense was tight but our offense couldn't put up points.
Can Armstead, Tartt, or Harold provide a big redzone target?
Although Trent has so much talent finding quality WRs in the mid rounds so we should be good.

why? you should be excited we may actually see two young wide outs play this coming year, two solid starters at wide out, a retooled offensive line with everyone healthy, a qb who worked his ass of to get better in the off season and i think three fine running backs. oh did you forget we have tomorrow in the draft? this is a marathon and not a sprint

Adam Henry will bring Patton and Ellington up to speed. Simpson and Smith will force teams to take a man out the box so Hyde/Bush/Hunter can wreck. Sparano will get the most out of Vernon, McD, and Carrier. We need to go defense, oline, quaterback.
