This is why you don't sign corners to big money. It's a fickle position, and slight errors here and there can make you look like an All-Pro one year, and average the next year.
Every position has down years, you can't use that logic when signing free agents. Besides Jeff Fisher knows him from his days in Tennessee, it was just a numbers thing IMO.

It all boils down to the health of Chris Culliver. If he comes back 100% as is being reported, Brown can leave.

I like Cully but he made me so f**king mad in the Super Bowl getting burned and looking like a retard trying to spot the ball in the air.

Sam Shields, 4 years, $40 million and $12.5 guaranteed, $15 million alone next season.

I feel like 80% of our money on defense should go to our front 7

$39M to be exact. Shields a $10M a year guy? I don't think so but to each their own.
Talib and Verner are licking their lips at that #. Fair value for them is north of $12M a year now unless teams cap out at $12 to stabilize the market.

he definitely still can, as long as he works hard and all that. Even the best players have bad games... just really sucks when it's on the biggest stage.

If Shields is a $10 mil a year guy then Brown should be looking for at least $8 mil.

Which means we should definitely not resign him.
The Brock situation is a perfect example of how you should handle the corner position. Search for them in the later rounds, let them rotate in, lock them up to a bargain contract after a few years.

That would be the superior strategy.
The Hawks defense is going to fall apart if or when they pay those DB's, they won't have any more money for impact in the front seven. Those DB's are Pro-Bowlers because of the pressure their front seven generates.

If some team's willing to pay Brown $8M a year, they're crazy. I like the idea of signing Charles Tillman on say a 2-yr deal. He's finishing up what is his last big contract, so he shouldn't be expensive now. He'd be great insurance while whomever Baalke drafts gets up to speed.
