really surprised that he is getting this much attention, but I'm interested to see what Marrone would do in the NFL. Syracuse isn't Texas or anything, but overall he's done very well there compared to what they had before when Greg Robinson coached the team.

I'm sure it has been addressed on here. But seriously. How stupid are the Bears for firing Lovie Smith? They went 10-6. They lost to GBx2, SF, Houston, Min, and the December version of the Seattle Seahawks. Plus some of those games were without Jay Cutler and all of them were with a spotty offensive line. This firing seems so ridiculously rash.

I live in the Chicago area and it was time to move on from Lovie Smith. Not making the playoffs in 5 of 6 seasons and never having an offense ranked above 15th.

It feels an awful lot like when we showed Marriuci the door. I understand why people in Chicago "feel" it is time to move on from Smith but I'm not sure it's a smart decision. Who do you think will replace him?

Mike McCoy, Offensive Coordinator, Denver Broncos
Mike Sullivan, Offensive Coordinator, Tampa Bay
Keith Armstrong, Special Teams Coordinator, Atlanta Falcons
Kyle Shanahan, Offensive Coordinator, Washington Redskins
Pete Carmichael, Offensive Coordinator, New Orleans Saints
Tom Clements, Offensive Coordinator, Green Bay Packers
Jay Gruden, Offensive Coordinator, Cincinnati Bengals
Joe DeCamillis, Special Teams Coordinator, Dallas Cowboys
Bill O'Brien, Head Coach, Penn State
Doug Marrone, Head Coach, Syracuse
Jon Gruden
That seems to be the list right now.

You hit the nail on the head. He's not an elite coach but he made the bears relevant again.
Dummies gon' dumb.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/01/02/ray-horton-i-think-ill-be-a-head-coach-this-year/
"Oh, no question, no question. I think my background and the way the players have performed for me speaks for itself. I've been to five Super Bowls and been on No. 1 defenses and guys out here responded to me very well. So if you're asking me do I think I'm going to be a head coach this year, I'll say yes," Horton said, via Kent Somers of AZ Sports Central. "I think the rule gives you an opportunity to expose yourself to somebody. Like I said, change is good and it exposes you to different ideas, which you are able to express to people."

Gregg Doyel @GreggDoyelCBS
Chip Kelly, Bill O'Brien, Brian Kelly. All great college-to-NFL candidates. But I'd take Kevin Sumlin, thanks.
