He isnt guaranteed anything after 2013. And since they arent in position for a QB in the draft this year and could always sit a rookie in 2013 behind him for a year, its really not that hilarious. Yes, Sanchez is underwhelming and undeserving of a new deal but its not as bad as advertised.

It's a three-year extension for $58.25 million.

No, it brings his current status to being FIVE years at 58 mil in potential money, not 3. It was a 3 year extension at a possible 40.5 mil, but only 27 in the next two years. So again, he could be history after 2013 and the Jets are no worse for wear than for paying 2 years, 27 mil for an average QB.

if they didnt restructure they would have to pay him 18 mill this year im sure they did this to save money
