With what Stafford did thi season - stat wise...hard to argue. I did wise Alex Smith won the award however. They shouldn't have combined the "Most Improved Player" & "Comeback Player" awards together. The Most Improved Player Award would have fit (Alex's) unique situation perfectly.

look at this dude any QB can do throw the ball up. Stafford is so overrated if Shaun Hill can put up 2500 yards and 16 TDs in 9 healthy games
There is no way I can call a QB that throws for 5,000 yards and 40+ TDs overrated. Very few QBs have thrown for 40 TDs.
Very few QBs have thrown 663+ passes in a single season. Only 2 others in NFL history. About as many have had a WR playing at Calvin Johnson's level.
The 41 TDs are excellent, but there's nothing special about 7.5 YPA, especially in that offense.

Niner Talk Rule #1:
Excuse Alex Smith from every mishap possible; detract anything possible from other successful quarterbacks.
exf**kinactly
Meh shaun hill put up the same numbers as him last year 2500 yards and 16 TDS in 9 healthy games OVERRRAAATTEEDDD
How Does this stat make smith look better? Smith got 3000 in 16 healthy games.
Shaun Hill averaged 6.46 ypa, 28th that season. Smith averaged 6.93 ypa, 18th in 2010, and for 2011, 7.07/17th. Stafford ranked 13th, but OMGZ 5000 YARDS!!!!!!!!!

Or had some sticky handed receivers. I'm not saying that Smith would suddenly be in the 5000 yard range but watching other teams and their receivers makes me sad.

It doesnt. It makes Matt Stafford look overrated which is my point. I wasnt trying to make Alex look better, I'm trying to show the Stafford is overrated if Shaun freakin Hill can be that productive in the same offense
