Well considering...
1) Polian was trying and evenutally succeeded to tank the season to get the the number one pick, Luck
2) Attempting keep Peyton Manning off the field this season towards the end so th Colts wouldnt win
3) Planning to get rid of Peyton in the off season
3) The owner was pissed off at Polian acting as if he were the owner

Hard to survive a 2-14 season no matter who you are.

I bet my money on Fisher landing in SD, Miami or Indy. Fisher could actually help improve that porous Indy D.

Honestly the colts screwed up by not surrounding Manning with the talent that other teams like the Packers or Patriots with Rodgers and Brady. Packers are stacked, they rest their QB and he throws for 500 yards and 6 Tds. Brady went down a few years ago and they make Cassell look like a pro bowler and they go 11-5.
Manning goes down and the Colts go 2-14.
They wasted Mannings career they could have surrounded him with better talent. Manning made Clark and Wayne look great. They had freakin dominic rhodes and anthony gonalez starting for them for a couple of years. Pierre Garcon? Austin collie? LOL
Packers surrounded Rodgers with Jordy Nelson Greg Jenings Finley James Jones etc. Pats went after Moss and tried going after big names like Ochocinco. They draft Gronk who was a steal. And both QBs win a superbowl within 3 years of starting, took Manning 10 years.
And jim caldwell? Really they couldn't do better than Caldwell?
Huge screw up by the Colts, players like Manning come once in a decade.

For all those years of hype regarding the Polians in Indy... obviously they were one of the leagues worst talent evaluators.
Take one guy away, and the team is the league's worst. And they were barely competitive. No excuses.

It was weird though because everyone said how they always hit on these late first round picks and how much of a genius Polian was. Yet the second Manning got hurt those same people said they would be lucky to win 6 games.

i dont know about that
If manning wasnt in and the colts did well, Manning would have been considered a "system" qb
We saw how fans were acting this sunday with Flynn/Rodgers

He would never be considered that. Anyone who has ever seen a Colts game sees Manning change plays and protections at lest 5-6 times each drive.

If you look at the Colts' last three drafts, the firing of the Polians isn't out of line at all. Peyton hid a number of flaws.

They weren't very good at all. They might be among the league's worst. That roster is a complete joke. And it has been for some time now.
Manning covered everything we're seeing now.

Indy drafted more skilled position players than anyone else. That was never their problem. Harrison, Wayne, Clark, Addai, Brown, Gonzalez. 1st round picks.
Indy was complete finesse offensively and defensively. It works in the regular season, but will eventually get your *ss pounded in the post season. Let's see what Green Bay does in the post season now that their defense is sh*t.
If anything Indy overcommitted to their offense. I think what separates Green Bay and New England from Indy was Dungy and Caldwell being completely reliant on Peyton Manning. The offense was so complex and so unique to Peyton's abilities that there's no Matt Cassel or Flynn coming.
