I would like to see WR or CB in first round. Re-sign Rogers (3 yrs), Goldson (4 yrs), and Brooks (3-4 yrs). Pick up a starting RG in FA or maybe we have that from our draft last year. Even though Rogers and Goldson are having career years, I don't see them as being cost prohibitive.
No way we re-sign Larry Grant either. He'll be a starter somewhere next year and we don't need him.

Focusing on the draft.
There is absolutely no way Couples falls to the upper 20s/30s. That would be Da'Qaun Bowers-esque stock fail. Trading up for him is a ludicrous idea if that's what you're thinking.
I've yet to see Reuban Randall on any 3 round mock out there. Never even heard of him to be honest and that's either my ignorance or a bad sign for him since LSU is playing for the title.
Coby makes since in the 3rd but why would we draft a 4th TE? Remember we have VD, Walk, and Byham, that seems extreme to have 4 TEs on our roster.
I'm biased here. I might like Gray but the idea of drafting a RB at all is beyond me unless we're cutting Dixon(unlikely because of stellar special teams play) or we think Gore is too far over the hill and we cut him(very unlikely he's in the top5 for rushing and just signed a 3 year extension)
Rhodes hasn't even declared yet and I've seen him go in the 2-3 range in mocks that include him. People say he'd be a 1st rounder next year if he stayed in school.
Why would we draft a ILB when we have 5 on our roster and your indicating we'd re-sign all 3 of the backups. Having 6 ILBs is crazy talk.
After that everything looks like depth pick so no problems there but that just cause we have 1 freakishly good season after 10 years of horror doesn't entitle to us to a wholesale BPA/depth filling draft.
4 RBs
4 TEs
6 ILBs
Which 2 postions suffer from lack of depth if we overload on those positions? I get that cutting Norris frees up a spot for an extra RB maybe but we're way to thin to think of cutting an OL or DB in order to field 4 TEs and 6 ILBs
Also that free agency class is kind of bad. Finnegan is not that great of player and he is a diva, there is a big difference between a troublemaker(Braylon) and a diva(Finnegan, he talks about wanting to be the dirtiest player in the league, not exactly an example for the younger guys. Does not fit the JH mold at all)
Carl Nicks would be a big haul but I'd rather go after Colston and get a RG in the draft. There is no way we go after Smith, he had just as bad of a year as Braylon injuries and all and you're talking about giving him a 2 year 5 million dollar deal???? That's a 1 year minimum deal at the best.
Not re-signing Brock, Brooks, R. Smith, and Rogers is strange. Brock has a long term future with this team, he's done nothing to damage his status with the team and Baalke drafted him, he played great when he played early in the year before being hurt. Brooks is a great tandem for Aldon to play opposite, he's put up 7 sacks and played hard. He'd be worth a 3 year 9 million dollar deal with 5 guaranteed. Reggie was in-line to start had he not been hurt and Rogers is playing like a CB version of Ed Reed in Fangio's scheme, I know he's 31 but he'd be worth a 4 year deal for about 20 million with 12 million guaranteed, besides we could always cut him just like they did with Clements when he got too old.
Sorry to tear into this but it's kind of an all around fail, there is a much better way to handle this off season then what you propose.

I agree with you on Brooks.
But I think players like Ginn, A. Smith, and Morgan are going to command more $ than that.
And I don't know s**t about this draft class, so I'll take it as a decent draft.
no, he is a UFA after this year, I dont see Snyder back.
Also some good news, it looks like we can carry over the extra cap space from this year. So anything left over of the 11M will be added to the current 35M under a 120M cap. So we have 46M right now if this is correct.
Thanks for the info, as always. Snyder is like Eric Heitmann, Justin Smiley, Joshua Morgan, Shawntae Spencer, etc....OVERRATED!
No problem. I also have been a snyder doubter, not high on extending him.
Exactly, Snyder is going to want 4-5 million a year as mediocre/ weak player, you might as well give Carl Nicks a California native 6-7 million a year and hurt the Saints as well
if we can keep Rogers and Goldson, go for a RG like Nicks, Im for giving him 7M a year average. Good thing Brees likely is tagged, so they cant use it on Nicks.
just gotta hope the saints and brees dont agree to a contract before march 1st, regardless the saints are gonna lose a good player or 2 when they have colston, nicks and meachem as free agents. i want at least 1 of them and hope other teams pluck them away from them
I think the Aints will keep Nicks and Brees but wont sign Colston, they are deep at WR

No kidding. We finally get a guy who can actually cover and were talking about letting him walk. Besides that 31 is not that old for a corner. Charles Woodson is 36. Champ Bailey is 34.

be smart and lucky like Mitch Kupchak trading Odom to the Mavs for a 1st round pick---knowing the Mavs played a lot of games to win the title, have a lot of older players, and the schedule this season is playing a lot of games with little rest. Could turn into a lottery draft pick!
keep Carlos Rogers and Ahmad Brooks---PLEASE.

You've got to be kidding. No way Mavs don't make the playoffs. Not saying they'll win it all again, but they have too much talent to be in the lottery.

having the core talent of this team with these kind of numbers is very good news and very exciting, hopefully it is used well in upgrades, not like the giants did wasting money on over age around average talent. we know what happened to that team in year two not addressing the major team needs, and what will happen again next year by not doing the same......in balke and harbaugh we trust

In a pass happy league the only way Rodgers is leaving is if we get someone better and that might be hard to do. Dont be so quick about Snyder one thing is he is very versatile.

I think I remember AB saying since Brock and Tukuafu are EFA's they can be re-signed at 1 year 420,000 or so. So could have Boone but we decided to get him for 4 years and he is well worth the small price tag. No way I let Brock and Tukuafu go for that little bit.

The Saints will not let Nicks leave. With Evans, they are the best guard tandem in the league. Brees may even take a discount to keep those two together. Along with Tennant, they keep a very clean pocket for Brees. Rarely does he have to worry about the pocket collapsing back into him.

Where the hell is Kellen Moore?
I would give up the whole draft for Kellen Moore and I wouldn't even do that for Luck. IMO, Moore will be the best QB coming out of this up coming draft.

correct. Brock would be $540K and Tukuafu would be $465K. Brock would get the 3rd year minimum, with Tukuafuy 2nd year.
