I want to see what Smith can do, but at the same time, if the Niners actually were to trade for McNabb I would be excited.
Orginally, I thought the fact that he's been a career WCO QB would be an issue, but then I looked up his stats. He picked up Andy Reid's system relatively fast for a young QB. I figure if he can pick up one of the most complex offenses in the league as a young QB, then what is to say that he cant pick up Jimmy Raye's simple offense with his veteran experience?
Either way, I hope this rumor ends soon because I am tired of speculating. If they are going to trade for him, I hope they do it soon just so I dont have to hear about the possibility anymore.

i was reading how philly feels kolb is a better WCO qb than mcnabb, and while mcnabb has a stronger arm than kolb he apparently throws a below avg slant pattern

I see it like this, if you have a chance to improve the Niners at a minimal cost, why not do it?
There is no comparison between the two. Jamarcus Russell isn't even an NFL quality player. He's fat, dumb and lazy. His career will be done by the end of 2010.
I'll give Alex this year to show what he's got as he isn't injured and he's actually gong to get to run the same offense 2 years in a row.

I agree with all this.
I would feel supremely bad for Alex if we traded for McNabb. But at the same time, I'd be pretty excited about watching him chuck bombs to VD and Crabtree.

One of the reasons I think he'd do well here. He'd be passing down field a lot.

Unless NcNabb loves the 9ers enough to sign for vet minimum with no significant incentives. He will not be considered.
