Their failures on offense was due to going pass happy and away from what worked for them the prior year - Forte.
Now with Martz they will move even further away from that philosophy.

Martz will be asked to alter his offensive attack to fit the bears philosophy IMO if he wants the job, plus they will need a couple more wideouts for the offense to be effective, but I'm sure Cutler will put up big numbers in Martz's system, I for one want to see him get hired, Martz calling the plays for the Bears would be interesting

Martz would be a good fit in Chicag. He and Lovie Smith have worked together successfully in the past. Cutler is the ideal Martz QB. Forte is a RB who can play the Marshal Faulk role. Lots to like about that setup.
The only problem is that Chicago lacks quality at WR and OL.
Chicago will get very active in FA this off-season. Their fans are tired of losing and Chicago is a great football town. Expect them to sign one of the top FAs in both OL and WR.
Martz CAN do a very good job with the running game as witnessed by the fact they 49ers began to run quite well after Singletary took over. Don't count the guy out. He will be looking to prove himself in someplace where he can stay for a while.

I supported Martz when he was here in SF. Not his fault that JTO, Smith and Hill were having trouble. We've seen the Rams excel in the past with the right QB, HB and WRs in place.
As for being the Bears OC now, I wish him luck...except whenever they play us. I don't think Cutler will improve right away under a new OC though.

Man, there were some very weak sauce arguments about Martz in Niner Talk last year.
"Oh, if he was so good how come he is unemployed???" And this classifed as ownage sadly enough.
1 year out doesn't mean a thing in the NFL. Cutler and Martz can be dangerous together.

Sing had that choice and chose sleepy and as much as I don't like Raye and his predictable play calling, I prefer him to Martz and his high risk, get the qb killed approach.

Martz has officially been hired according to ESPN. If you thought the Bears running game sucked this year just wait until Martz gets involved. No running game and 7 step drops for Cutler on every play.

mike martz is now becoming every coach's last ditch option for an OC in an attempt to save his job.
