ONCE YOU GET BY ALL OF OJ SIMPSON'S SOCIAL TRANSGRESSIONS. YOU WILL FIND THE "PERFECT" RUNNING BACK. THE JUICE WAS BIG, STRONG, FAST, GRACEFUL AND HAD A GREAT SET OF EYES AND FEET. THE PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES THAT WERE "THE JUICE" HAD NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE OR AFTER HE GRACED NFL PLAYING FIELDS. WE NOW HAVE ALMOST TWO GENERATIONS THAT KNOW HIS NAME FOR THE WRONG REASON.

What would these running back attributes be worth today?

OJ's ability to slice through the defense and make quick cuts was matched only by his killer instinct.
If he saw his opponent was vulnerable he would go straight for the jugular.

Gayle Sayers was before Simpson and was amazing to accomplish what he did in such a short amount of time imagine Sayers stats if he had played as long as Simpson, Brown, Payton, and Smith. Simpson was a great RB but there have been several backs since him that are/were far superior, such as:
Eric Dickerson
Walter Payton
Barry Sanders
Adrian Peterson - if he is able to play long term will be HOF and top 5 RB ever
Edgerrin James (in his prime)
to name a few

adrian peterson is the closest thing in the league today to that of those old school running backs, except im pretty positive he is faster..otherwise he runs just like them.
gale sayers was the opposite, i believe he was a glimpse of what the future running back would look like..

Edgerrin James does not look right in a list with those guys. He's got the stats but I find it hard to put him there.

I'd take Marcus Allen over him.
