D'Angelo Ponds got some dawg in him, think he can be a Verrett type CB or is he a pure nickel only guy?

More of a DJ Reed type CB than Verrett if you ask me; but he's better than Reed. Yes he can play outside and people who say he can only be a slot because of his size don't know how to evaluate the CB position. 49ers made that mistake with Reed

I love short CBs. Ponds might be too small for the NFL. I'm rooting for him but man 5'8 and a buck 70 vs a pulling guard. Giving up 4 inches to just a 6' WR. His vertical will help offset his height. If we're making comps to players Mike Hilton is who I'd comp him to. Leave Verrett and his educated feet and liquid hips outta the conversation
Bud clark at 27?!

im pretty open to a lot of options this draft. I think I'd lose my s**t if that happened. Would be on brand with this team though

Yeah I'm fully expecting Thieneman to be taken by the Vikings to predictably replace Harrison Smith. But if by some miracle he lasted to 27 that's a home run pick. Agreed that Clark would be on brand with this regime for 1st round picks where they reach and think it's smart.

Should say:

Names to watch:
EMW
Thieneman
Keionte Scott

I really like Clark and I'd love if we drafted him but he is a 3rd round player.

i think Clark is a 2nd round player in the same area as Ramsay (slightly lower) He is a legit ball hawk with great instincts and ball skills but is pretty undersized which caused him to miss some time . 15 int in the last 4 years is some serious production

Clark is a pretty large reach at #58 which is the end of the 2nd round - so we'll have to agree to disagree. I'd be disappointed in passing up a lot of guys to pick him there. And I like the player and think he is a #70-#100 pick.

Get Scott or Stukes at #58 if looking for a FS as they are on a tier one above Clark imo.

scott tackling is so bad though and i dont think nickel CB is a need at all

You think he's a bad tackler? First person to say that…he's gonna play that star role. I agree not sure that's the best position to be going for, unless they think he's a true FS

theres no way i can be the first person to say that. That being said im not saying hes a bad CB but i just think that will keep him out of first round that and his age

edit: here are a few

https://jonledyard.substack.com/p/2026-nfl-draft-scouting-report-miami-4e5
Missed tackle rate around 20 percent is a real problem, too often lunging instead of wrapping.
https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/chiefs-scouting-report-miami-hurricanes-220034844.html
Missed tackles remain a constant issue for Scott. He whiffs or slides off too many attempts.

https://nflspinzone.com/2026-nfl-draft-miami-cb-keionte-scott-scouting-report-01kfk1g0k145

Poor tackler in open field, missed tackles at a 20 percent rate and showcased poor form.

I saw a few Miami games and I would not say he's a bad tackler, he reads plays really well and covers ground especially in run support

He can play FS and plays super fast. Just a better player than Clark and I like Clark a lot and would be thrilled to trade back from 27 pick up a mid-late 3rd and take Clark with it.
