MSN mock. For whatever reason it's not allowing me to put the link in here. Story by Colton Edwards writing for MSN. You can search it. It's online.

11. San Francisco 49ers - Aireontae Ersery, OT, Minnesota

Aireontae Ersery is my top offensive tackle in this draft. He offers versatility by playing both guard and tackle positions. He demonstrates good initial quickness off the snap and effectively establishes inside leverage. Ersery could be Trent Williams' long-term replacement. He's the perfect fit in Shanahan's offense.

I've just stated that I think he could end up at guard, but the bold is misleading. Has he actually played guard? I dont think one snap in college. So the versatility is more that we are not sure if he can play tackle, so might end up at guard. That's not quite as positive as it sounds imo.

I think he could be a beast RT. He has powerful hand punch, strong base, length and pretty good athleticism. If he couldn't do that you could kick him in to Guard and I think he could dominate. With his base and power. Not sure if he can take over for Trent Williams at LT. But he's a big, powerful guy, with length, strong base and pretty good speed for his size. He's a pretty good athlete for that size. He will go pretty high. Mocks now have him in the 1st and they are right IMO.

No, you found 1 mock from a fan who does opinion stuff for Fansided….who also had Milroe going #2

That's what all mocks are. Opinions. Is that new to you? There are other mocks with him in the 1st round. He's legit 6'6" 331 lbs. With around 5.0 flat 40. That's a beast. He's a beast on the field too. 1st round guy.

Meh. Here are my thoughts for the first three picks by Kyle and John:
1. DEFENSE
2. DEFENSE
3. DEFENSE
Same thought applies even if the 49ers trade back in the upcoming draft.

We need offensive line and defensive line both. They favor defense more in the draft. Sometimes miss. But they favor it more high up at least. So that wouldn't surprise me. I would take best available. Because inside of 15 or 11 specifically it's what you have to do. Realistically this is a 3 year rebuild now. Or more. You can't fix this mess in 1 draft. While doing relatively nothing in FA. Except mostly minus.

Respectfully disagree. The Eagles fixed every problem they had with a great draft and one or two key FA signings. But it was the draft that saved them. They turned it around in one season. If the Eagles can do it, so can the 49ers.

The Eagles have a better base foundation on the lines than we do. Both offensive and defensive line. Ours is a mess on both sides. They also have a coach who doesn't choke. A GM who hits on picks instead of misses. Finally Hurts whatever you think of him is very athletic running around. He's crazy athletic on the tush push. He can do some things athletically that Brock can't. They have just as many weapons if not more than us. They just needed to plug in a few things there. Saquon and DeJean were huge. But our team has holes all over the place. We aren't comparable to them in our present state.

Eagles fans were saying the same things last year too.

Plus, the players they lost were much larger than the players we lost

Josh Sweat
Milton Williams
Darius Slay
Chauncey Gardner Johnson

Mehki Becton is still a free agent. They are looking to trade Dallas Goedert and have nothing behind him.

They have starting holes at RG, TE, DE, CB and SS. And have no depth on the Dline.

No, this is a fan mock vs a mock by guys who get paid to do this for a living, where are these other mocks?

NBC has him in the 1st round right now. So do some others. He's a legit 6'6" 331 lbs. Runs a 5.0 flat 40. That's a beast. Depending on the measurement Membou is 6'3-1/2" or 6'4". He measures different at the Senior Bowl and combine. So it depends which you believe. But you could argue that the length and reach are more important in the NFL than 1/10 of a second in 40. With also a great time for a very large man.

There are literally hundreds of mocks all over the internet. People put up a webpage and do mocks. It doesn't mean they know more or less than anybody else. It's just a mock. But a player with his size, strength, length, speed, athleticism, good feet and great play in College is not going in the 2nd. That SLUG Jaylon Moore got a big deal from the CHEATS. Teams are OT desperate and he will get picked high. He has a real chance to go in the 1st round. Even the 1st half of that round. You can't teach his size and athleticism. There are only so many guys available with that.
Membou and Ersery have the same wing span.

Ersery has more height and length. Which always helps you. You can't teach height.

6'6" > 6'3-1/2" or 6'4". Whichever you believe. Because he measures different at the Senior Bowl and Combine.

Height helps you to lose the battle of leverage, sure.

Membou has longer arms and an equal wing span, tho.

More height with pretty equal arms gives you more REACH overall. Because reach is ALSO a product of height. Not just arms. Making you more suited for Tackle in the NFL and speed rushers coming around the corner. A shorter, stout guy may kick inside to Guard.

I don't think vertical reach helps a linemen with horizontal movement.

For sure a longer person is on you quicker and easier than a shorter one. Length is part of total reach. Height is part of that. Just like a 6'6" person will get every rebound over a 6'0" person playing at the park. Even if your arms were very similar in length. Which would be unlikely with that differential. But for the sake of argument we assume it. The height also matters in total reach. Quite a lot.

Not saying Membou will be bad. I like him. Just at Tackle this guy may be one of the best ones in the draft and he's more naturally suited to it in some ways. Both can be really good players in their own ways. But even the athleticism is not that far off. This guy too put up really good numbers. He's only 1/10 off in the 40 from Membou. No slouch of an athlete. In a different year where he didn't get slightly overshadowed by the workout people would rave about him. You run 1/2 yard straight ahead. To smash the guy in front of you. So rarely will they run that far down the field anyway.
