This quote from Kyle makes me believe it can't be Mac Jones at 3. At least that's my prayer!
"I'll say just, it's a risk every single year you go into an NFL season without one of those top five guys. It's very tough to win in this league and there's only a few quarterbacks that you're going to win because of just the quarterback. Very few, and even those guys still need a good team around them. So yeah, you've got to take risks. This is a risk we were willing to take. We looked at how our four years have gone. We looked at how we want the next four years to go and we'll look to where we're at in the draft and the options that are there. That's why I sit in there, looking at this stuff since January and going all the way through the process. We felt pretty strongly we were going to get left at the altar sitting there at 12, the way that we think this draft is going to go and the way all these candidates are, and the way a lot of teams are in a position trying to take a risk to fill that need that I just said about. Almost every team's in that position except, I don't know, 10 of them. So yeah, it's a risk, but that's every season in this league is a risk."
He said it's a risk for every team that doesn't have a top 5-10 QBs. There's just no way he can think that Mac will be one of them right? I wonder if he would consider ATL and MIN as 2 of the 10 teams that have a "TOP" QB? He also talked about the past 4 years (including the Super Bowl year) and the next 4 years being different? Can Mac be that difference maker? If the goal is to shoot for a top 5 QB, I just can't believe they can look at Mac Jone and Justin Fields and they would come to the conclusion, that Mac gives them a better chance to reach that goal.
The draft can't come soon enough.
That quote doesn't say anything.
if Kyle thinks that Jones is the next Peyton, who is honestly going to argue with him? Fans and reporters? This is why the ego thing gets brought up constantly
It says that whomever they plan to draft, THEY THINK has a top 5 QB ceiling. That cannot be Mac Jones! He is barely top 5 in this draft class.
That may be how you think, but that may not be how ShanaLynch thinks. Ensatsu makes a good point, if Kyle thinks Fields/Mac/Lance is the next Peyton Manning, who's really going to prevent him from getting who he wants? Certainly not the fans.
Exactly, its hilarious how all of a sudden everyone in the zone is a QB expert and know better then the guys who get paid to make these calls.
Read a few mock drafts and watch a few hand picked clips or highlights of the QB they like most and all of a sudden they know better than anyone.
