His Florida tape isn't the best as a pass rusher, but he looked really good in coverage. It wasn't until the final play where he gets to the QB to end it. He's a finisher, and I love it. Bosa is still #1 for me, but Allen is a fantastic #2

Check this out. Allen's get off out of a three-point stance is insane. The crazy part is that he spent 99% of his snaps standing up because of his coverage responsibilities. Dude could've probably had twenty sacks if he was better utilized.

Lol was just gonna post this
Still looking through his tape, but four games have only seen a handful of snaps where Josh Allen was in a 3-point stance, all against Mississippi State.

His get-off was jaw-dropping on every rep. Way quicker than when he's standing up.

To me it's Bosa at 1 or trade down enough and toss up between Polite and Allen next. With consideration to Burns and Greedy.

Can't trade down far now, Allen being looked at as top 3. After combine, interviews, I think he locks that up

Did you see that get off and bend? He should light up the 40, 3 cone and short shuttle, and at his size, teams are going to be . As long as he does well in the interviews, his stock is only going to keep rising. I think he's got a great shot of being EDGE2 when it's all said and done.

Who knows. If this keeps up and he blows up the combine we might still have a chance at Bosa at #2. That wouldn't hurt my feelings either.

I want to see more growth from him at the Senior Bowl. He needs to show he can win with more than just speed.

I agree, want to see at least the beginnings of an inside counter. At least Allen brings some extra value as a SAM in base.

Or anywhere near as strong, Allen would be a great consolation, but doesn't hold a candle to Bosa IMO.
He's a huge project as a LEO, there are some things I really like, get off, bend, speed, size. Others that worry me, I've seen him walled off and redirected by TE's and haven't seen an inside move.
For me he starts off as a passing down nickel rusher who plays SAM in base. Plenty of value, just not Bosa.

Assuming Saleh is still around next year, it raises some questions:
-If he's at SAM, he doesn't help our base pass rush. The Sam LB RARELY rushes the QB. That means our pass rush still blows in base.
-Saleh leans on his snickel package(AA-Mitchel-Defo-Solly) in nickel to remain stout against the run. Does Allen see the field in this package? Or is he relegated to Saleh's obvious-pass-down nickel package(which is the one least used)?

I completely agree with this assessment, the problem is that precious few guys can both set an effective edge and provide a pass rush, I believe that was a reason we picked Solomon (obviously hasn't worked out that way).
I'm still studying but at the moment I can only see Bosa and maybe Chase Winovich who fits the above.
Polite is a maybe, Ferrell maybe, Sweat possibly, Burns no.
All of them are passing down nickel rush defenders. At least Allen plays on base, and no I'm not sure he (or any of the maybe's) crack the Snickel.
I do think he can be developed to do it all for us, but not expecting it out of the gate.
As a side note I think Saleh would be more inclined to use less Snickel if we were putting up more points.

Ferrell is a 3 down player. He has everything Bosa has, but at a notch or two lower.
