Tanzel Smart-DT-Tulane

Another player that I like a lot, real high effort guy, not the greatest measurables but he brings it play after play. Perfect rotational DT for the scheme that the 49ers are running now. He's a smart, high motor player that can rush the passer with a variety of moves, not great length but simply outworks opposing lineman.

His intelligence also jumps out at you, rarely out of position, not fooled by misdirection, playaction...etc, shows a keen understanding of what the offense is looking to do, I'm a big fan of how he always appears to be aware of what is going on out on the field.

Good later round guy but he dives a lot instead of driving thru tackes.

Tanzel Smart, DT, Tulane

A Senior Bowl stand out, Tulane's Smart stood out both against the run and as a pass-rusher in 2016. he had some huge performances over the course of the season, including a one-sack, six-hurry performance against Houston late in the year. While for some he will be considered a bit undersized, Smart's production over the course of the year, where he racked up seven sacks, seven hits, and 33 hurries on 401 pass-rushing snaps.
