Donte Moncrief-WR-Ole Miss

Moncrief does a tremendous job of attacking the football in the air, he shows terrific adjustment to poorly thrown passes, whether high or low he consistently made good adjustments. I've watched over a dozen full games that Moncrief played in and he regularly bailed out Wallace on some very iffy throws.

When someone like Greg Cosell comes out and praises Moncrief for making some outstanding catches on poorly thrown passes, that should speak volumes.

About his hands, he's got very reliable hands for the most part, allows the ball to get into his body at times but no more than some of the other top prospects, not as fluid as Landry or Grant but those guys are basically at the the top of the class along with a couple of others.

Here's one of the interviews where Cosell brings up Moncrief.

Moncrief's biggest weakness IMO is that he needs to develop as a route runner. But he does very much have that sort of Josh Gordon potential where he can be extremely explosive, a guy that ends up being a true #1 WR in the NFL or at worst, a very good #2 if given time to develop. If he does well at the Combine, you'll see him move up the draft boards pretty fast.
I like this kid. I would spend a 3rd on him.

LOL....wut?

Moncrief certainly isn't on the same level as a guy like Landry or Grant when it comes to getting passes outside to his body, but your statements on every level were just ridiculous.

The kid is talented, and I'd consider taking him starting in the 3rd
But he's not perfect like it's been said around here lol
And yes he uses his body to catch way too much

I'm just going to ignore that you posted all that random rubbish. None of that means anything to me. People honestly need to stop treating amateur scouting reports as something worthy of any real attention. BleacherReport and most of those other sites are basically worthless. Any yahoo can put up a bunch of gibberish and try to make it sound authentic.

I don't expect anyone to take it seriously when I post stuff, especially if you have guys like Cosell and Mayock stating the exact opposite. I also recognize that a lot of amateur draftnik's are full of crap and are simply mimicking what they see on other sites.

As far as Moncrief goes, I've seen a lot of him and I think I have a pretty good grasp of what his strengths and weaknesses are, I've watched full games, not just random Youtube clips. After seeing enough of a prospect, you can tell who has actually watched him play and who's merely throwing darts blindfolded.

The reality is when you have people who are paid to do this for a living saying this:

Has big, strong hands. Good focus in traffic and body control to adjust to poorly thrown ball. Confident pass catcher. Does a very good job tracking the ball over his shoulder. Catches over-the-head ball consistently. Has quick hands and can pluck on the run. Had one concentration lapse along sideline vs. LSU but otherwise he has shown very good sideline awareness and body control. Also adept at dropping weight to keep feet in bounds.

And those who aren't saying the opposite, guess who has more credibility?

Got tied up with my 3 kids but Cosell expressed my exact sentiment! I don't see this guy highly rated or talked about a ton but his tape certainly has him looking the part to me. I would love to have him in the right round but then again I don't know what HarBaalke are looking for or feel they need either. I just know I like what I see and I think his game can translate to this level
We need to trade up in the second to get this kid
This guy is for real. I watched almost every game this kid has played in being in a viewing area that gets most of their games. Matthews is pretty damn good, but once you get over him being Rices cousin, you see a guy that we don't need, we need a field stretcher, not another Crabtree type with basically the same skill set and a little less talent. What I see in Moncrief is a young Josh Gordon. Also I don't get the beef with his route running, they use the whole route tree at Ole Miss. He might need some polishing up on them, but he is a better route runner than Matthews, who I also like by the way. If we could land both I'd be happy, but if we can only have one, I'll take Moncrief.

Wtf...lag then triple post.

Moncrief is a beast, to me he looks like of a similar player to Sanu but I only fully watched 2 of his games this year.
i like Moncrief. if we can somehow come out of this draft with Landry/Cooks and Moncrief, we'd be set
With today's news of Baldwin's contract restructuring, Baalke's WR pursuits may change somewhat. By that I mean it seems like drafting a burner would be more of a priority. When Boldin re-signs Harbaugh will have mostly big-body WR's...Patton being the exception. Adding a Beckham, Landry, Cooks type sounds more likely now. Bring it on! TB could still draft a Moncrief or one of the bigger WR's to compete w/Baldwin for a roster spot...nothing like competition to improve the roster and in this case, the offense.
