Thanks again Buck! Looks like those who have touted Landry are pretty good judges of WRs. Disappointed a bit with Matthews' numbers but just a bit.

I actually think Quinton Patton will be pretty good (hey Cap, that's the receiver to your left who was wide open and begging for the ball as you threw the killer INT, SMH). I'm still bitter!!! Still love my QB, though. I dont have a selection for the draft spot, although I'm so against receiver. We have drafted our best receivers after the 3rd round. There are good ones out there, but we seemed focused on the big schools. Lets take a chance on a 3rd rounder from a small college. Please!!! No more !st round WR. I will just die
If our QB can learn to see the field and make the right decision we are fine with what we have now. The WZ wants a WR in the 1st round every single year for 10 years in a row. It's their favorite position. They are Matt Millen.

Interesting read. It raises some questions about Jordan Matthews, my favorite receiver in this class.
Good counterpoint to concerns raised in the article(s).

I completely agree with DjJam49, you can find slot Wrs in later rounds and everyone seems to sleep on Q.P

Yes, because counting on a 34 year old receiver and a guy who is one year away from potentially walking in free agency is a good long-term strategy.
Regardless of whether or not Boldin re-signs, 49ers need to add 1-2 more receivers, one guy to develop as a potential replacement for Boldin or Crabtree and another guy to add as a speed threat who can spread defenses out. Baldwin is also as good as gone, dude will be cut by the time next season starts.
Also, LOL at Hawkins, are you serious? Guy has to be included in the Top 5 of most overrated preseason All-Pro's on the Webzone, all-time. He did absolutely nothing for San Diego as a receiver and was mediocre as a returner.
But hey, he made Billy who now works at Dunkin Donuts and Joe who is selling insurance look pretty stupid in the 4th quarter of that preseason game, eh?

People aren't thinking about injuries at all. What happens if Boldin goes down...or Crabtree again? If VD goes out, its like they forgot how inept this offense looked without some sort of speed to keep defense's honest. They need someone to develop for the future alongside Patton, they also need a true deep threat, a gamebreaker type who can get downfield in a hurry and make full use of the cannon that Kaepernick has for an arm.

Not sure if SanDiego is hitting menopause or what but he's been crying non-stop for a month. His catch words now are "one read QB" and "BIG, physical cornerbacks."

This dude right here! QP was the 5th f'ing read and Kap had all of 1 second to get that ball off. Even if he gets to him, he gets all of 3 to 4 yards. And yes Kap knows QP...I recall a nice sideline throw to him versus Arizona that set up the game winning FG.

Coming out of this draft without 2 WRs is a mistake imo. So much depth because of all the early entries. Why wait for next year (which won't have this year's depth), when we can get a couple of guys that would have gone sooner in a normal draft year.

Agree. I think that trade was just to get a guy with a similar cap number whose guarantees came off the books a year sooner. Cap casualty, depending when they need to let him go to avoid 2014 costs.

We should come away with 2. I think we should grab 2 in the 2-4th round area. This draft has so much talent at certain positions that it'll push very good players deeper into rounds they normally wouldn't go in.

I didn't really want to start a thread so I'll just say it here. Running back is a very underrated need. Gore is is still good but its very obvious that he lost something. Lattimore has start potential but is a mystery, Hunter is a change of pace back of best, same with James. It's a deep draft for rbs so I hope we at least look at the position this year.

A sleeper pick that I wouldn't mind is that Sutton DT guy from ASU. He is a menace to try and run on. I know its not quite a position of need but if he somehow fell to the 2nd round, I'd scoop him up.
