Phoenix 49ers Post-Boldin Mock Draft

Nice mock. I'd take Jones or Hankins in first. Will Cyprian be there at top of second? It'd be great if he was. If Harrison is taken in sixth I dunno if I'd take Rogers in second...perhaps a corner or DT with this pick? But if the draft turned out like what you have I'd be happy.
Not convinced they'll go WR that early, but it wouldn't bother me if they did, especially for Rogers. I get the feeling though they're going to need to trade up a bit for Datone Jones as I'm not sure he'll get past Denver. Overall, solid mock.

Man, I like this mock Phoenix. What I'm having a hard time with is the text-speak answers. I know, it's SO much harder to type out and instead of N. It's called Spelling, Grammar, and Punctuation. Some of you need to look into it.

A lot of people access this site on their smartphone. I know I post quite a bit from my phone, so I can understand the need for brevity and the use of shorthand. But that post before yours was pretty terribly written, that much I agree with.

Thanks kool kids ill try harder to write everything out just right for y'all you know maybe for some people the push screen action is just not as fast as what I'm trying to get out in my comments AND thoughts ....

I'll apologize. I'm just an old fuddy duddy anyways. Don't take me seriously - no one else does!
Thanks and nice to meet u fuddy duddy lol
Looks good to me Phoenix. Are you not driving the Patton bandwagon anymore?
I love this draft! Great job.

Co signed.
I'd feel better about the [popular in these parts] mid-round selection of Lattimore if it was more certain you were getting a 1st round talent after a year recovery. If it was that simple, he wouldn't fall into the 3rd or 4th. It's not just that teams aren't willing to redshirt him, it's that teams doubt he'll ever get back from the severity of his injuries.

I wish I knew more about it. If it's a pick we make, I'll be a little uneasy but I'll have guarded optimism that Baalke decided it's worth the risk. Hoping he falls to the 4th before we pull the trigger, though.
I think you are wrong about Datrone Jones being available at 31. I have been saying this ever since the Senior Bowl and think he will end up going somewhere in the early to mid 20s in this draft.

I would go this way:
1) Jesse Williams DL ( He may be gone but I think its more likely he is there)

2A Jonathan Banks CB ( I like Trufant more but think he will be gone for sure)

2B Jamie Collins OLB ( crazy athlete who would be a big time pass rushing specialist)

3A DaRick Rogers WR ( he may be gone but this is about where I think he goes)

3B JJ Wilcox S ( or DJ Swearinger - this is a good spot to grab a safety and not reach for one too early)

4A Marcus Latimore RB ( risky to take him before rd 4 in my opinion but I would love to get him and stash him)

4B Nick Kasa TE ( love the size. Big target in the red zone)

5A Dustin Hopkins or Caleb Sturgis ( dont care as long as we get one of the two

If those first 4 guys were picked, I wouldn't care who else we selected after that.

Got a feeling those prick Cheeseheads are going to end up taking him in the 2nd.

Would love to have Patton, all-around I think he's an outstanding prospect, I'd be like this guy if the 49ers were to draft him->

Well, we'll find out soon enough about Jones. As far as cornerback, I don't see it as big of a need as safety. I think this team needs to take a safety more than a cornerback early unless the team is convinced that Trent Robinson can be an adequate replacement for Goldson. Otherwise...they need a replacement for Goldson, as well as developing a replacement for Whitner who will be gone after next season.
Datone Jones is in the express lane, he may be long gone by 31. I'm thinking the 49ers are going to make a move, the question is how high do they go. If they do make a move that player will be a contributor from the opening game, not like last years #1.

Not sure about cutting Goodwin, he solidified the center position. There were some bad years at center prior to goodwin. Hoping Kilgore or Looney can play at the same level is way too hopeful imo.

I just dont think that Cyprien is as good as Banks and would rather take the BPA at a position that is always critical. I guess I dont think that Brown, Culliver, and Rogers are elite CBs at all. There are safetys that can be had a bit later in my opinion.
I don't see them using one of the top 4 picks on a wideout in a draft so deep at the position. My guess is they'll solidify the defense with 3 of those picks and use the other on tight end or Lattimore.

Lattimore specifically because he can be "redshirted" for a season and then be used as Gore's heir to the throne

Edit: I think you're looking at d line with the first pick, then corner and safety in no specific order in the next 2. Though I wouldn't be shocked to see them draft an OLB in the first 2 rounds. Remember how they were interested in Bruce Irvin last year?
