Pretty good comparison, I'd have to agree.

Really good info from Trent... so we got Looney at 117 and he was the guy we would have taken at 92. Kind of had a grin on his face when someone asked him if he wanted Gradkowski the C from Delaware... the Ravens took him right before us and the war room was visibly upset. He just said "who knows".
Also said Frank Gore likes watching backs and has a good eye for them. I couldn't hear but sounds like Frank said he liked James a couple years back. Also, surprised he mentioned that after taking Cam Johnson that Mayock said he had him in his top 100. Weird that he would even mention what Mayock said about the pick but he was kind of talking about how they felt about him and they aren't worried about the illness.
Both Harbaugh and Baalke said we are about done on our 90 man roster and will be surprised at some of the names on our undrafted free agent list. Also, talked about DL... Dobbs and Williams... said they feel they are high ceiling guys. They must think a lot of them and RJF/Tukuafu to not have drafted 1 guy.
Edit: One thing about Trent is it's not only about getting good football players but he likes to get good value. He has done a lot of trading back in mid rounds when he has a player locked on and knows we can keep moving back a bit more. It's like playing with fire which might have happened with Gradkowski but we got a lot extra and still got Looney (some times it works, some times it doesn't). He did it with Bowman a few years back... 79 to 91 and got a 4th the next year and still got him.

Interesting note, 27 trades, not the highest, but counted for 101 picks off the non comp picks changed hands atleast once, and only 5 2013 picks were exchanged, if you don't include the RG3 trade. Minnesota got Detroit's 4th and Tennessee's 6th in 2013, and we of course got the 3rd(Carolina), 5th(Indy) and 6th(Miami). And NE didn't do any draft day maneuver for 2013 picks. They actually only have 5 picks in 2013, their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 7th.

That's good to hear, I also got high hopes for Ian Williams, Tukuafu and Dobbs.

So I have a question for you. Who was the #1 receiver for the Rams with the greatest show on turf? Would that be Isaac Bruce or Tory Holt? If you have enough competent WRs, who gives a s**t who the #1 is.
do we have any competent WR's?
using two HOF caliber guys to give examples is not realistic at the moment being we don't have one
we will be drafting WR again next year

Agree. Really thought we already had good depth there.

Yeah, I think we are set for this year at DL... see what we got before we go getting Justin's replacement even though imo he can go at least two more years. Also, they seem content with CBs as well. I figured with Cox's return ability and him signing for 2 years they wouldn't be quick to replace him. Also, Brock being exclusive rights tender I think they like him as well.

Factually, just not true.
Sickle Cell Anemia develops as a defensive response to malaria.
Many "non-black" people have sickle cell.
Sickle-cell disease, usually presenting in childhood, occurs more commonly in people (or their descendants) from parts of tropical and sub-tropical regions where malaria is or was common. One-third of all indigenous inhabitants of Sub-Saharan Africa carry the gene,[4] because in areas where malaria is common, there is a fitness benefit in carrying only a single sickle-cell gene (sickle cell trait). Those with only one of the two alleles of the sickle-cell disease, while not totally resistant, are more tolerant to the infection and thus show less severe symptoms when infected.[5]
The prevalence of the disease in the United States is approximately 1 in 5,000, mostly affecting Americans of Sub-Saharan African descent, according to the National Institutes of Health.[6] In the United States, about 1 out of 500 African-American children born will have sickle-cell anaemia.[7]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sickle-cell_disease
Sickle cell disease is much more common in people of African and Mediterranean descent. It is also seen in people from South and Central America, the Caribbean, and the Middle East.

Competent WRs? Yes. I expect a full training camp and preseason will help a lot, particularly as the QBs will be better and the full playbook can be implemented. Everyone's talking about how AJ will make it easier for the other receivers to excel, but I expect having Lamike on the field will help, too.
Frankly, I'll be surprised if Moss makes the roster, even if he's motivated. He's no spring chicken and his body has taken some beating over the years. Even if he's highly motivated and has his head on straight (not a foregone conclusion), it will be very challenging for him to perform day in, day out, and I'm not talking just Sundays.
We could very well draft the WR position next year, depending on how Crabtree and Manningham perform this season. If their play and attitudes aren't good, Harbaugh will run their asses out of town. And Williams, too -- but I think it'll be easier for him to make the team than Moss, Swain, etc.

Agree. And I believe we have built up enough ammo so that we can go and get any impact player or players in next years draft also. Love what this front office is doing with this team for sure!

And you hit the nail on the head. Moss is a 1 year maybe 2 guy, but might not make the roster. Manningham is no more then a #2-3 guy, he proved that in NY, good depth but not a game changer. Crabtree isnt a game breaker and I think he leaves once his contract is up. Williams is dead to me. And Ginn is not a WR.
If Jenkins plays great then we have a good start at the rebuilding process but we will need more guys, that I'm sure of.

I don't generally reference Lowell Cohn's writing, but I agree with his latest that how the receivers do this upcoming season will depend more on the QB play than anything else. In terms of pure talent/measureables, other squads of course have better receiver corps than the Niners will...but having said that, we potentially have a very, very good group who will create mismatch nightmares for opponents, especially if they try to get cute with blitzing, etc. As I've said elsewhere, if the QB can throw receivers open and hit them in stride, one missed tackle or blown assignment could be a Niner touchdown.
