I don't care too much about his run blocking abilities.
If we draft him it's not replace to Vernon Davis. Delanie Walker was a poor blocker too although he has made some strides at that. Aaron Hernandez was a lousy run blocker coming out. I don't know if he improved but coming out that was definetily a weakness.
If we take Fleener it's because we envision him to be a great receiver not a great blocker.
Here's what I'm looking at
6'6 245 4.55ish forty. We're a team that desperately needs a red zone target, and a team that desperately needs a more refined tight end. Vernon's awesome but his lack of awareness really bites us in the ***.

Is that a cop out?

Exactly. The interest in Fleener is all about improving red-zone & third-down efficiency, two areas that really held the offense back in 2011.
I'm not concerned about his blocking ability. The team can coach him up in that regard. I would rather have a dynamic TE on the field then a blocking specialist who is zero threat to the defense. We run so many multiple TE sets that the 2nd guy needs to be able to make plays consistently.

my bad I thought that was Fleener. I guess all buffed white tight ends look the same to me.
Here, now you can study their naked busts until you can tell them apart. You're welcome.

Opinions... different.
You undervalue Walker, and you obviously think I overvalue Walker.

It's OK man. We're cool.
Undervalue nothing, Delanie Walker is what he is, an under-sized h-back playing TE, that's a fact, not an opinion.

If you're going to get a TE who can't block you might as well spend a later round pick on Egnew imo. Same height, his stats were actually better than Fleener's in college too. Fleener just has the whole stanford/Luck hype.

Delanie Walker is the REASON we run so many multiple TE sets.
