I like it too, but we'd need to be major players in FA to get another starting CB, S, and OLB. And a serviceable QB to hold down the fort (presumably Alex Smith)

Sure, but the f... lockout removes any free agency influences this year. We absolutely need some signings when free agency starts (whenever that will be)

WR in the 2nd round? I highly doubt that is going to happen. Other then that the draft is ok.

This draft is awesome. No way it will go down this way, but I would be singing Harbaughs praises if it did.

based on who is available according to this mock this is what i would do. Id consider trading out of 7 if Gabbert was there. It depends on how the niners view Gabbert but this is what i would do

I wouldn't be surprised to see a WR or RB taken in the first three rounds. The receiving corp of Crabtree, Morgan, Ginn, Williams, Zeigler could definitely use an upgrade.
Gotta pick BPA (plus or minus a few spots) other than T, TE, MLB, P, or K in the first few rounds. After that, need-based selections make more sense.

There's wasn't bad even though I am not a Gabbert fan. Yours would be awesome but I doubt Harris is around at 45 even though Walter football thinks so.

I really cant see it, with RB or WR. We have a nice one two punch right now at RB. We just need a complementary back, not a feature back. We can find a shifty/skat back in rounds 4-7. Its not like we are looking for an instant starter. Whoever we draft will have time to develope and wont be called on much in their rookie campaign. Hence why we wont invest a high pick.
As far as WR goes I imagine we will grab one or two at the back end of the draft. WR`s normally dont start right away unless they are top tier talent. If you draft a WR or RB at pick 45 you are basically not going to get any production from that pick for roughly 2 years. You have to keep in mind where we are at with the CBA and not allowing rookies to practice and prove themselves. In a year like this you almost have to draft by need and not BPA.
Also keep in mind Harbaugh invited 2 Stanford WR`s to our pro day and he is familiar with the college prospects. No need to jump up with our 2nd pick and grab a WR who likely wont contribute.
