How can you take a mock draft serious when 1. It has us taking Cam Newton at #7 and 2. the description says this.....
I am not sure about this pick especially because they have a prospect in Troy Smith who could go on to be a good starter in the NFL. This will be a big first decision for Harbaugh as he will either be taking a QB or staying with what he has. I would give him Cam Newton with this pick in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft because even though Harbaugh runs a pro style offense he could be a good NFL Player.
Seriously?????? Troy Smith a good starter???? Not to mention we run the WCO and Newton is a Spread QB. I'm going to look at the other picks only b/c it has to get better from here.........Rd. 2 The San Francisco 49ers select!!!!!!! Marvin Austin DT North Carolina... See, I KNEW it had to get better...... Rd. 3 The San Francisco 94ers select Terrance Toliver, WR, LSU...says "Toliver was a good player for a very good football program. He is big enough and fast enough to make an immediate impact."... Not bad, we have bigger needs but he is a good player.
I just thought you guys would get a kick out of that 1st selection and description....

I believe I will cry and go into complete panic mode if we draft Newton at #7. Only way I would be okay with him would be if he fell into the 2nd round which won't happen.

To save me some anxiety and stress, I really hope that the Bills or Cardinals take Newton. I want him off the board by the time 7 rolls around.
Still hoping for Peterson to fall to us.

Cam Newton may be the best player in this draft. I would be excited to land him at 7.

And Tim Tebow was most likely the best player in last years draft. How many 49er fans (besides me??) want him to be our QB? For every good thing Cam does there's 1 bad thing he has to change... You def. don't want that out of your 1st rd. draft pick. Especially in the top 10. This year our #7 pick has to be a slam dunk or it could set us backa few years. Think about it.... 1 bad pick at the top of the draft and your organazation could be set back years. Look at us with Alex, Look at the Raiders w/ Russell and the Browns w/ Couch and all their 1st rd picks that were bad, The colts and all their bad 1st rd. draft picks. I mean 1 year they had the 1st and 2nd pick and got both of them wrong!! Then Finally they hit pay dirt w/ Peyton and passed the headache onto SD. My main point is the teams that are consistantly good never have a top draft pick, and if they do... they trade them away for multiple picks. Which is why the Pats always have 15 picks a draft and the Eagles have 12 and the Steelers have 11 and the Colts have 14. They don't take the risks of having a high pick and messing it up. All they do is get their starters in place, then replentish thru the draft... have that guy sit behind the star for a few years, then when it's his time to step in, he's already a vet and he becomes the next star!! I can't wait til we're back to that position.... GO Niners!!

I guess you figure Tebow won't be successful, but I believe that he will be a winning QB in this league. He had some significant question marks coming from a spread/option offense into the NFL and poor throwing mechanics, but nothing is unchangeable. BYU initially tried to move Steve Young to DB due to his "inaccuracy" which eventually became one of his hallmarks.
I understand that missing on top10 talent will set you back, but its a QB driven league and if you have a chance at securing a franchise QB, you take it, especially if its at a position of need.

I do believe Tebow will be a success but mostly b/c of his will power and refuse to quit. Now don't get me wrong Cam Newton showed a lot this year putting all the off the field stuff to the side and concentrating on this year. My biggest problem w/ Cam is, read 100 articles about the stars and possbile stars coming into the season and i bet you 99 of them don't mention Newton. He's had 1 good year, don't get me wrong that 1 good year wasn't exactly a good year, it was more like a GREAT year for the all time ages. However, I want to see him do it year in and year out. It's easy to play so loose in the beginning of the year when the exoectations are middle of the pack in the SEC. Now like i said, middle of the year and the end of the year i give him all the credit in the world. I just think for the offense we're going to run, the WCO there are better options. Now your right Steve Young was a running QB and was a HUGE success in the WCO. However, those first few years were VERY shaky b/c a lot of ppl. (i'm looking at me) thought he didn't let the play develope and tucked it and ran too quick. Once he became a passing QB that also ran is when he FINALLY started having his success. Same thing w/ Vick this year. In years past he just got by on his god-given talen, never studied take or tried to get better. Now that's he's committed himself (haha) look at what he's doing. I hate to say this b/c I think ppl are going to jump down my throat but I think a lot of ppl. this Josh McDaniels jumped the gun on Tebow last year and B/C of that... Newton is going to fall, possibly to the 2nd rd. I know i'm losing my mind right. I just have this weird feeling that's all... take it for what its worth (which is really nothing)....

Cant really argue with that
and its very possible, probable even, that Newton will require at least a year of refining before being pro-ready. But from everything I've read, he as the desire to be good just like Tebow (perhaps not exactly like Tebow as it would be hard to find someone with his level of desire).
At the end of the day, he is an athletic freak who has better than expected football acumen and a thirst to improve. And a very underrated deep ball regardless of the fact that we will be running the WCO and use deep routes very seldom.

If he's the best player at 7 take him. He is by far the player with the most upside in my opinion.

Another mock draft totally out of touch. I know a team is not supposed to draft for need but to completely ingnore need for 3 rounds is just plain stupid.

I am not even going to comment on Newton. If we arrive at the end of the third round and still do not have an OLB and CB in whatever order I swear I will vandalize something.
