Pick Jimmy Clausen. I personally don't want him to. But would he be willing to bet his career as a possible GM on this guy? There have been reports that the Niners are interested in him, but it just seems too risky for a guy that's trying to get the GM job, especially when it seems like the organization believes in Alex Smith.

They aren't trading down, people just see a QB from Notre Dame and think we want him since Montana went to Notre Dame. There's no way we get a QB in Round 1 unless somehow Sam Bradford slips to #13.

No way Baalke comes in and drafts a QB everyone thinks Nolan/SMac were the only 2 invested in Smith. The Yorks paid him and have alot more invested than anyone else in Smith. He gets another year we draft OT and either DB or passrusher in the 1st this year and trade up or sign a FA QB next year if Smith doesn't work out.

Guts has nothing to do with it. Clausen doesn't have the capability of coming in and taking the starting job away from Alex Smith. It would take Clausen a season to get to the point where Nate Davis is now.
Sorry, golden domers...Clausen to the 49ers isn't going to happen.
