People need to forget Spiller

Hopefully with the departure of Scott goes the departure of the "not drafting playmakers without protypical size" philosophy... one can dream

Where's the draft value? Take the record setting, #1 ranked impact player at his position,[ with is a position of need ] ,or pass and instead draft the #5 ranked player at their position of need, that is admittedly somewhat of a project.
Give me Williams, Davis, Haden, Graham, Iupati, Thomas... don't need Spiller, have other pressing needs.

We need a KR/PR, but we can get a specialist in other rounds... plus, Raye has already stated that he doesn't like using starters as PR/KR's, so why would the Niners spend a first on a back-up RB/ST guy?

I like Spiller, but there is better value to be had at the spots.

Because Gore guts hurt every year and having high quality backups is intelligent. And his ST skills would add something that we haven't had in years......these are the things we need to win games.

If we're talking high quality backup I rather have Ryan Mathews

Spiller's ST abilities makes him more of a value then any other RB this year. If we were needing a normal backup then I would say pas on Spiller but what he offers in ST is sooooo needed. The argument that we can wait till the later rounds is stupid...we waited and drafted Coffee and so far I'm not impressed. Mathews will be gone late first or very early 2nd...we wont have a shot at him. It's either we take the most dynamic kid at RB or we pass all together.

Again, drafting a "high quality backup" with a #1 pick isn't good value. The Niners have lots of other needs that are more pressing, like a slow secondary, lack of consistent pass rush, and a horrid OL.
NO SPILLER!

Its becoming a 2 back league more and more every year. Every team that was in the playoffs had 2 weapons in the backfield. We don't have that kind of asset on our team. Having the ability to put Gore, Davis, Crabtree, Morgan, and Spiller all on the field at the same time would be a nightmare for opposing teams. At 13 he could be BPA that also fits 2 needs...its a win win for us.

Is Spiller the best returner in this draft?

Scott makes selections in the draft based on his preconceived formula. He doesn't choose Guards until the 2nd at earliest. Scott also stays away from RB's in the 1st few rounds as well.

Scott will stick to his formula regardless of what makes sense. The 1st is for QB's, Dlinemen, OT's, CB's.

Picks like Vernon Davis were all Nolan, when he had final say. I don't believe Scott likes taking skill positions early, and only chose Crabtree lastyear because of his slide.

I am calling it, Scott will pass twice on Spiller.

I guess this thread title needs to be revised.
