He likes Spiller, Best, and Arenas for kick and punt returns. This scout does not think Bulaga would be a good fit. Thinks Williams would do well at RT. Thinks Iupati would be great at guard.

Williams at 16/17 would give the Niner's a lot of options at #13. They could go Spiller, trade down, etc. That would be pretty sweet, IF Williams could lock up their RT spot.

I was thinking about Williams, Bulaga and our tackle options. Then, last night on NFL network, Mayock says he believes Williams could be an All-Pro RT. It got me thinking: are we looking for the best OT overall, someone who could fill in on the left side if Staley goes down and possibly eventually move over the left full time? Or is the team strictly looking for a RT only?
I'm kinda on the Bulaga bandwagon because I feel the team needs a guy that could move over to left if needed. But as strictly a RT only, is Williams a better guy than Bulaga? Have I been looking at the two incorrectly?

I kinda agree with u Trent Williams would definitally be the better RT but I would rather ger bulaga because if staley were to get injured we would be in a horrible position. It's not like bulaga is a horrible RT he would be above average also he ran the same ZBS in Iowa as we do now.

I'd much rather have a guy who is great at one position than pretty good at two. That's why you have back ups. I've seen all these guys rated differently bu almost everyone. No consensus best guy, maybe Okung, but the rest are all over the place.

You make a good point too. Now I'm really confused as to which guy I want them to draft. :-)
I guess I'm still leaning towards Bulaga. But who knows? Glad I won't be in the war room.

I agree. Take a look at the Saints. When Jamaal Brown got hurt for the year they didn't move Stinchcomb over to LT. They kept him at RT were he's a Pro Bowler and trusted that the backups Bushrod and Strief would get the job done.
Sims has already proven that he's a capable backup and if after that it's all about developing players to fill in the role when needed.

Screw it...Let's take Trent Williams #13 and Iupati at #16/17!! We will have no concerns with O-Line for 10years!
From there, take Arenas in the 2nd. Done!

1st post, long time Niner fan.
We need to rebuild our line fellas, plain and simple. Picking Spiller in the 1st does not address the problems. What good is it to have that speed if there's no one to block for him? I suggest we go OT at 13 (Trent Williams) and OG (Mike Iupati) at 17. Frank Gore rushed for 1600+ yards because Larry Allen and company were creating huge holes to run through. In the 2nd and 3rd rounds, address the secondary and backup RB position. Jahvid Best would be nice if he's available in the 2nd. In the 4th, we can address our kick/punt game by drafting the fastest man in Clemson (not Spiller): Jacoby Ford. Here's a video of both Ford (#6) and Spiller: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miJBWAhVUkc

our line sucks but thats not a reason to pick o-liners with both firstrounders. you will get a good enough og in the 2nd, too.
having two firstrounders is a big luxury and i dont want to see the niners throwing them away that way.
I'd rather prefer a pass rusher or spiller with either of the firstrounders. and i am on of the guys who tapped one's forehead at "draft spiller"-guys some weeks ago.

Welcome. As you will have gathered by now, the zone is split between those who think that the O line is a huge need and must be sorted, and that starters for this are onlly likely to be found early; and those who can't resist the sexy picks and hope to find O line help later. Maybe.
Guess you can tell which category I am in!!!!!

Why do you have to be like that?
Welcome, too! I, too, feel very strongly about Williams and Iupati that I created the TWO OL in the first thread. Please browse it as it has some very good insight from others. T. Williams and M. Iupati would dominate in the trenches, just dominate. Why? They both excel very well at their respective positions at RT and LG.
Their technique will be coached up and improved by our Solari/Brown team. What they have now is natural ability to man that spot. Both of these cats have the potential to become Pro-Bowlers as identified by Mike Mayock.
As much as I love Spiller, a Williams and Iupati first would make me
