Trade Staley and gave Cutler be our QB... you do know that the Bears sucked too right?!

When the Bears held their opponents to 20 or less points they were 36-7 with Jay Cutler at QB. I would agree the Bears sucked but was Cutler the main reason?

20 or less would mean that you have a top-10, potentially top-5 defense... I'm sure Alex Smith's numbers are similar when you get that kind of production from your defense.

Cutler has one of the best arms in the league, but he lacks mental toughness to really be in play for any playoff consideration...

I'm not saying Cutler is a world beater and is a franchise QB. He isn't a leader, throws horrible interceptions and his off field antics is annoying. But If anyone thinks we will be competing for a playoff spot next year they are lying to themselves. Cutler is a middle of the road QB who will atleast let us compete in some games next year.

I think if Cutler was the QB next year my father would get arrested for murdering Jed York..

I would feel really bad your dad is in jail but if your saying all we have to do is sign Cutler to get rid of York I say we throw a 100 million contract at Cutler.

Lmao sorry pops Hysterikal makes sense..jk jk
id love having three 2nd round picks, but how anyone could think using three picks in the 2nd round all on offensive linemen is insane.
Trades on all the mocks I've seen are ridiculous and has no realization behind it lol and the picks are crazy with no good reasoning
Nice to know my 2 stalkers are alive and kicking! Lol
IMHO, you're way overthinking this off-season...could there be some trades, yeah there could. There'll be some FA signings, too. I hope Cutler's not one of 'em. For all his physical talent, he's never been able to overcome the mental part of the game. He's been one of the most inconsistent starters his entire NFL career. Beyond that, I really don't see him operating well in a WCO. I do think they should trade out of the #2 spot...simply to get more high picks. Done. No need to do all the trading you're advocating for. Trading the #2 pick should increase their total picks to at least 13, possibly more. With those, it's possible to make a trade or two, if they want a specific player. That said, with as many needs as Lynch/Shanahan have, this draft is a real opportunity to dramatically improve the roster. With Adam Peters now a big part of draft prep/player evaluation, etc. I think this is the draft to take maximum advantage of. Same goes with FA, but 'til they have an opportunity to evaluate the current roster and develop a solid FA & draft game plan, we're pretty much all just spittin' in the wind WRT what they'll do.

Absolutely agree. This mock aside, the smarter plan (IMO) for Lynch/Peters/Shanahan is to NOT try and fix everything at once by recklessly signing a ton of high-prices free agents to 5+ year deals in the hopes that you can compete sooner rather than later.

IMO, the approach should be to primarily build through the draft, sign 1 high-priced free agent this year that fills a particular need (NT would be ideal) then sign a handful of 2nd-tier free agents that can serve both as stopgaps and mentors to the younger players (e.g., Brian Hoyer, Pierre Garcon, Jabaal Sheard or Chris Long). Year 1 will be rough, year 2 should be better and by year 3 we should be contending for a playoff spot if done right.

Yeah that's how it's going to be, I get they have money but no way they spend stupid, I think 2 big free agents on each side on the ball who are 26 or younger to 4 yr deals makes sense..then like you said 2nd tier free agents and lock up our own guys who show promise..I think when it's all said and done the niners will still have around 50 million in cap room to roll over after the cuts and free agent signings..
Thank you Crappernick for winning the RAMs game.

Nick Perry OLB GB 5 yrs/65 million This is crazy for a guy who averages 4 sacks a season Not smart to go crazy like this in free agency

That's NFL FA, sir.

Don't play if you can't pay.

I'd be fine with the draft though, just need better compensation for the #2 pick. We absolutely have to get a 1st or 2nd in 2018 at a minimum, especially seeing as how whoever is trading up with us will be doing so for their Franchise QB. They need to pay and Devin Smith instead of some future early picks along with a 1st, 2nd and 4th this year just ain't going to cut it

Good call!

Also Jay Cutler is a terrible pick-up.

Malcontent and IMO not a fit.
