Ivanm05's Mock Offseason (1st)

Stanford has Thomas play a fair amount of 4/5 tech, so if we forced the issue of grabbing another 3-4 DE, i'd much rather have thomas over allen. I'd rather avoid both, tho.

I love thomas, but i don't know how he fits in our scheme. he's kind of an enigma because he plays everywhere on stanford's line with the bulk of his snaps coming at 3t, but he's a little undersized at that role.

he's not an edge player. he doesn't play there and we don't know if he can bend a corner. putting him there would eliminate his short-area explosiveness, which is one of his greatest attributes.

it's going to be interesting to see how he measures in at the combine.

Couldn't agree more

Logan is absolutely a NT. Just didn't play it in Philly

Nope. I want 330+ at NT. That guys is eating up 2-3 OLmen in the middle and freeing up my LBs.

That right there is a top 3 front 7 folks.

MLB- Rueben Foster
OLB- Chandler Jones

Now that's a Top 3 F-7

Really?? Read up and get educated. Thomas is a flat out beast and if not for Myles Garrett I think he would be the consensus #1 pick. Just like Justin Smith was the year he came out. A D book-ended by DeForest Buckner and Soloman Thomas would be downright filthy.

"He's damn good. I don't think he gets drafted as early as you do because he's not big enough for inside and he's not as long as you like on the outside. You have to figure out where you will play him, but he won't stop. He's going to be really productive." -- Director of scouting for AFC team

NFL Comparison
Justin Smith

Bottom Line
Explosive defender who combines strength, quickness, and a muscle-car motor to drive him around the field making play after play. Has the hands and feet to be a quick-win specialist and the size to fit as a 4-3 or 3-4 defensive end who can reduce inside for pass-rush downs. He has all the athletic traits to become a high-impact player and possesses more than enough skill and talent to believe he will continue to elevate his game as a pro. Thomas has the potential to become the best defender from this draft class and a future all-pro.

I think too many of you are too influenced and swayed by what the talking heads in the media say. And while im in no way saying they're wrong, many of you take their mocks or opinions as gospel.

If you've been watching college football this year, you'd know just by watching that Soloman Thomas is a top 5 defensive talent this year. You wouldn't have to rely on the opinions of the media.

You can't refute a person's opinion just because other "legitimate" mocks dont concur with his. And there's no such thing as a legitimate mock. It's all speculation and hearsay. Whether its us joe shmoes posting them or Mcshay. They're all just educated guesses. But guesses all the same.

Its just for fun.

Hey man sorry if it came out as rude/ disrespectful. Just having a little fun here that's all, no hard feelings brother !
And I know many are perplexed by the Solomon selection but I'm just frustrated in the sense that there's a big drop off in value right after Garrett. And there is no way Cleveland passes him up.

I don't think there's a QB worth the number two pick in this draft... not even close.

Then you say well hey just trade back and get a couple more picks. Ideally, yes. But like I said.. theres not gonna be a player there at #2 that teams are gonna want to give various picks for. Possibly Jonathan Allen if his stock heats up enough.

I would almost be tempted to just go Foster or Mike Williams there at two.. but I really do feel Solomon will be a much better player. And I think we need to bo BPA. Just start from scratch.

I expect Solomon to run well at the combine. And if he runs a sub 4.6 (what Harold ran) with all that weight and power then I think he could easily play standing up as 3-4 OLB.. I mean look at this guy play. You line him up inside, outside. You would wreak havoc with all the stunt combinations you could run with Lynch Solomon and Buckner.

I know many will bang the hes ideally a 4-3 D End drum... but if you just see him play you can see a lot of attributes that translate to the edge.

Oh no. None at all bro. It's not you ... i mean just in general. When say a person puts X player top five.. or Y player in the 2nd round. Some people will refute that persons' opinion as ridiculous by saying well I havnt seen any other mocks have him that high or that low and so forth.

And I mean. We all know the real thing never goes down like we or the pros mock it up.

And i like doing these for the reason that it incites discussion about all sorts of players and helps us all get educated on all the prospects coming out so that we can anticipate all the possibilities of what could transpire those three days.

I'm glad your'e on here discussing with us.

This ! Couldn't have said it better man. Im just sold on us needing ILB help and my eyes have been on foster if we don't go QB or garrett. Either way, i enjoy reading your posts (crap talking and all 😉)

Cheers mate !
You had me interested until the second overall pick in the Draft. Then I gave up. If you traded down a few slots and picked up something else, I might buy it.
Uh, so our QB is Brian Hoyer? Pass.... I'd rather keep Kaepernick.

If we can't find a way to steal Garapollo or Cousins via trade, then we need to draft a QB in the 1st or 2nd at the latest. There are a couple QBs that would be good value in the late 1st round. I'd say, trade up from our 2nd round pick and nab a QB.

I like Garret, Foster, and Williams at the top of the draft. All are best at their positions (OLB, ILB, and WR respectively) and all are positions of need.

Thats all good but theres just not much value there at the number two pick.. Not enough for a team to trade up to. It sounds nice.. I get it. Its ideal.. But dont forget to look at the other side of the equation. Who wants to trade up to number 2, for who? And how much would they really give up?
If Solomon runs a sub 4.6 I will be completely and utterly shocked. I suspect a 4.8-4.9 which is still really good for him.
