I said this a year ago. Now I say sign him.
Sign a 32-year-old, lost-a-step LB to a team who won't be good for at least 2 years?
Takeo Spikes?
Spikes was actually still good though and hadnt slowed like Hawk has. The neck even played another season after the niners if im not mistaken.

Spike was perfect when we signed him because the D was young and we were looking for that VOICE.. he bacame a tutor to Willis as well, and he was a great leader for us..
I'm not sure we have that now, we really need a vocal leader here..

I'm a big believer that you always need a mix of vet presence and youth. And that players who have been phased out on one team often find new life on another.
So signing a guy like Hawk to a position we are short at, and haven't addressed at all in FA or the draft seems like a pretty reasonable move to me.
It's not like there's some future star we drafted whose minutes he'll be stealing.....

Vocal leader? We need some ballers not this guy. I guess you guys think Bowman and Bethea aren't vocal leaders
