The league is now active and lineups all entered. Only one player is not set, Andrew Bailey for Crzy, as he was not in the Yahoo database. Im sure that will be rectified soon.

I will be doing my annual draft analysis after it is completed. I will break it down into 3 tiers:

Tier 1 The Final 4 - the 4 teams with the best shot at the money
Tier 2 Close But No Cigar - good teams that will just come up short
Tier 3 Do You Believe in Miracles? - Cause that is what it will take...

Last year I was very close to being exact. We will see this year. No Garce to give me grief about picking my team in the top 4 though

Anyone else having draft withdrawals? I miss the anticipation of making my next pick. I miss digging deeper to find to that valuable pick. I miss getting text from crzy or John at work telling me I'm OTC. Damn.....is the season here yet?

Had my other money draft yesterday. I'm good on drafts. I just want baseball.
Ninerjohn's Draft Analysis...

FIrst of all.. dont get mad at me. This is one man's opinion and I can be dead wrong. Injuries and smart FA pickups will greatly decide who wins. Last year I was very close on my predictions but did not have Boise winning. And that team was unreal. OK. Here we go...

TOP 4
  1. 4ML - in my opinion clearly the #1 team. Of course it is a huge advantage having the first pick but 4ML drafted well throughout, made a good trade, and got value with most of his picks.

2) Rose - I hate Rose. I swear to God that he took the guy I was going to take 10 times. Best hitting team and will contend for the top.

3) Boise - Defending champ and always a contender. Balanced team although speed is somewhat of a weakness. Should be there all the way

4) Ninerjohn - This is for Garce if he is reading this. I think my team is a notch below the others in this tier but if healthy could contend. Balanced

CLOSE BUT NO CIGAR
5) JRG - SO MUCH better than last years team. In fact, came close to being in the top tier for me. Great pitching but not convinced that he has enough
hitting to win it all. Could sneak into money though.

6) Rubs - Like the pitching more than the hitting. Just seems like a middle of the road team but still could contend. Top 6-7 team.

7) Crzy- Like the hitting more than the pitching. WIll take some luck and good pickups to make the money

8) Sincal - Like JRG, Sincal did a much better job drafting this year in my opinion. Not enough to make the money most likely but greatly improved

DO YOU BELIVE IN MIRACLES?

9) Finch - Well.. cant get much worse than last year. MOST IMPROVED drafter. But sadly, wont contend this year. Keep working on it Finchy!

10) Jimrat - Not a bad effort for a 1st timer. I actually think his team could finish as high as 6th. Just not in the money

11) Sac - pains me to put Sac this low because his team almost always contends. Lots of picks with upside but just seems like a huge longshot

12) Moist - maybe its a lot better than what I am looking at but the pitching looks so shaky. Prove me wrong MBC!!!

SO thats it... Now a couple more points..

  • I will be wrong on at least 2 or 3 teams probably my own when I finish in the bottom half.
  • I dont really hate Rose. I have lost count on how many leagues we have been in now and he is VERY good.
  • Rubs might have had the #1 team if he just had a couple more weeks to study. Dee Gordon and Joey Votto ahead of his hero Buster Posey.

Finally ..... GOOD LUCK EVERYONE AND..................... DONT HATE ME. Others can post their opinions too. Rabbit always loved doing that.

I wonder how long John thought about swapping me and himself.

Thoughts on my OWN team (feel free to give your thoughts on your team as well!)

jrg
C: Kyle Schwarber - best fantasy C in baseball for me. I think he will be dominant in the Cubs lineup. OF positioning as well.
1B: Paul Goldschmidt - honestly my biggest concern. I pray he has the kind of season he had last year
2B: Ian Kinsler - consistent. on a pretty solid team and is decent at about everything.
SS: Jean Segura - grabbed him pretty late. i like his SBs. i also think he is better than the #s he has put up recently. in a good lineup. bounce back.
3B: Miguel Sano - VERY high on this guy. Think he has 40HR potential. The one pick that made me wish this was a keeper league.
MI: Jonathan Schoop - Crazy power. In a great lineup. Lot of RBI potential.
CI: Pedro Álvarez - Same with Schoop. Nice that he is in AL where he belongs and can just focus on swatting HRs.
OF: Carlos González - don't expect another 40HR season, but hard to bet against this guy at Coors. Could get traded to a contender.
OF: Shin-soo Choo - f**k you Rubs.
OF: Jay Bruce - will be traded to a contender. can still hit some deep balls.
OF: Matt Holliday - http://espn.go.com/blog/st-louis-cardinals/post/_/id/41/is-matt-holliday-really-primed-for-a-ridiculous-year
OF: Colby Rasmus - 30HR season
UTIL: Kendrys Morales - Mr. Consistent
UTIL: Jhonny Peralta - snagged to help if Segura doesn't pan out (starting season on DL)

SP: Max Scherzer - K machine. Stud pitcher.
SP: Madison Bumgarner - Great pitcher. Hoping he continues to ascend.
SP: Jon Lester - #2 pitcher on a top NL team.
RP: David Robertson - he closes baseball games
RP: Glen Perkins - he closes baseball games
P: Michael Wacha - expecting a BIG year.
P: Shelby Miller - awesome pitcher. way better then his #s show. was just stuck with ATL.
P: Jaime García - contract year. VERY good when healthy.
P: Mike Leake - consistent. on a top team.

BN: Ubaldo Jiménez - hope he can get some Ws with some run support
BN: Derek Norris - fill in at C/1B. can move Schwarber to OF as well to mix and match.
BN: Yadier Molina - same. plus hes a f**king bad ass.
BN: Jerad Eickhoff - random flyer
BN: Javier Báez - super utility. not starting, but can play 1B/2B/SS/3B/OF. has a ton of pop.

I'll give my thoughts on the rest tomorrow

Good luck gentlemen
lulz John. Dee Gordon is the #13 fantasy player and Posey was the 37th. I took Gordon at #21.

I did something a little different than last year for one reason - my draft spot put me in a weird spot. All the big hitter stars were gone so drafting Kershaw was the obvious choice at 4. The problem is once it came back to me at 21, all the power hitters left have a horrible career batting average. Gordon was the obvious choice as he is a fantasy stud, so I made the choice then to focus all my picks on guys who hit for high average, high on base percentage, steals, etc. My guys all are like that. My team will be average in power, but should be at the top in most other offensive categories.

starting pitching I should be fine, and have two save studs.

Last year I had a combo of guys - high power, high average, hardly any steals, and a mix of averages so I was in the middle for all offensive categories.

We shall see if picking a common them pays out, but I believe I will be in the mix. Of course staying healthy and out of trouble helps. Last year I lost a few stars to injury, and one to a big suspension. We shall see who that happens to this year.

edit - I like 4ML's team, Redrose and Boise. I followed Boise's draft and he stays by the book. Most of us follow it, but vary off to grab a guy we believe in or think will break out. Boise stays pretty much by the book which is why he is always successful. Rose picked before me most of the draft and took my next guy about 4-5 times. James did it twice to me I think. Boise got me a few times also, and so did crzy. I dont think that happened once with MBC (lol).

LOL at Rubs thinking Rose picked ahead of him most of the draft. Just a heads up Rubs.. EVERYONE picks ahead of you half the time. But you had the 4th pick and Rose had the 9th pick so it would be very unlikely that someone you had at the top of your list would fall an additional 5 spots and certainly not past draft savy guys like Boise and Crzy.

On the other hand... Rose picked ahead of me by 1 slot 14 times. He took the player I was going to select NINE of those times. That is almost impossible to believe but I swear its true.

You get so defensive, its cute. My point he rose picked the guy I wanted a few times, as well as others, but that didnt happen with moist.
