For whatever reason, doubting Jimmy Garoppolo has been one of the themes of the San Francisco 49ers' season, at least as far as the mainstream media is concerned. One would think that taking a 1-10 team and going 5-0 with it, as he did in 2017; out-dueling Drew Brees in a shoot-out in New Orleans earlier this season; or even a simple glance at his passing statistics this year would quiet some of the doubters. But some pundits seem to have chosen "doubting Jimmy Garoppolo" as their hill to die on; like Ryan Clark, who as recently as this past Sunday on SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt after the Packers game said that Kyle Shanahan should be commended for, at times, winning "in spite of" Garoppolo. 49ers right tackle Mike McGlinchey has staunchly defended Garoppolo both on and...

It's an old cliche that sometimes adversity teaches you more about yourself, or your football team, than good luck does. So when 49ers prized free-agent acquisition and starting LB Kwon Alexander was ejected in the first quarter of the 49ers' game in Tampa Bay last Sunday, it was a turning point in that game. Kyle Shanahan jumped on KNBR on Thursday and was asked on the "Tolbert, Krueger and Brooks" show about Alexander's ejection and how he handled it. "We're very big into people's intentions, and by no means was Kwon trying to cheap-shot that guy. [...] But it's pretty hard when you have a 235-pound quarterback who can run you over at any second and runs people over all the time, and he's doing a pump fake on third-and-five or whatever it was right at the...

There's been some question from San Francisco 49er fans this off-season as to how the work will be divided among the running backs this year. One element of that equation was removed (or re-removed) when Jerick McKinnon suffered setbacks on his reconstructed ACL causing the 49ers to place him on injured reserve for the second straight season. The 49ers brought in Tevin Coleman to help Matt Breida shoulder the load. Breida, who performed admirably last year after being thrust into the starting role, has continued to impress this pre-season and earned his place atop the 49ers depth chart at running back. But Coleman is no slouch either, despite not flashing much in the 49ers preseason contests (which is no surprise, given that the preseason turned into the Jeff...
