Jun 7, 2016 at 10:40 AM--

San Francisco 49ers head coach Chip Kelly announced today that the team would hold joint practices with the Houston Texans and Denver Broncos prior to each exhibition matchup.

Those practices will take place on August 12 (with Texans) and August 17 and 18 (with Broncos).

The 49ers play the Texans at home on Sunday, August 14 to open up the preseason. They face the Broncos on the road the following week on Saturday, August 20.

The 49ers held a joint practice with the Broncos in Denver last season as well. The 49ers' complete 2016 schedule can be found here.

Russini: Texans continue to avoid inquiries about Deshaun Watson

By David Bonilla
Feb 25, 2021

The Houston Texans have insisted they have no desire to trade quarterback Deshaun Watson, and that's the story they're sticking to. Watson, on the other hand, has grown frustrated with the organization and wants out of Houston. Until last week (see below), the young star quarterback had cut off all contact with the team as the two sides remain in deadlock. The Texans' refusal to give in to Watson's demands hasn't stopped teams from reaching out. Those inquiries continue to be ignored, according to ESPN's Dianna Russini (h/t to Patrick Tulini). Houston isn't

CJ McCollum may end up disappointed. The NBA player had campaigned for the Cleveland Browns to pursue San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman. McCollum is a Browns fan, and Sherman seemed open to the idea. I appreciate you @CJMcCollum ! We will see how the process pans out in a month! But I hear you https://t.co/mudQL8W1Zp— Richard Sherman (@RSherman_25) February 5,

ESPN: It would take the 'Deshaun Watson effect' for the 49ers to move on from Jimmy Garoppolo

By David Bonilla
Feb 14, 2021

Jimmy Garoppolo is the most likely candidate to be San Francisco's starting quarterback in 2021, and it sounds like that's fine by the 49ers. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler recently reported that the Niners are among the teams that Deshaun Watson is "intrigued by." The quarterback wants out of Houston, but the Texans have no desire to trade him and are still hoping to reconcile their differences. Fowler added on SportsCenter this weekend that it would take a monumental opportunity, like adding Watson, for the 49ers to even consider moving on from Garoppolo. "I'm told San Fran is looking at potential upgrades, but they still like Jimmy G," Fowler said via

49ers add WR DeVonta Smith in latest PFF mock draft

If the San Francisco 49ers don't make a move for a quarterback in this year's draft, many can envision the team going after a cornerback or adding another defensive end. Several of San Francisco's top cornerbacks are scheduled to become free agents. It's a list that includes Richard Sherman, Jason Verrett, and K'Waun Williams. The 49ers didn't have their top two pass rushers — Nick Bosa or Dee Ford — for most of last season. Bosa is rehabbing an ACL injury, while the status of Ford's back and neck injuries remains unclear. If Ford isn't healthy by April 1, San Francisco will be on the hook for a significant portion of his 2021 salary — $11.6 million — regardless of whether he is on the roster. Rather than target one of these positions,
