Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times posted a photo of legendary former San Francisco 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo Jr. sitting for Blair Buswell on Tuesday during the creation of his Pro Football Hall of Fame bust.

In February, DeBartolo was voted into the 2016 Pro Football Hall of Fame class and will be inducted in August prior to the annual Pro Football Hall of Fame preseason game.

In September, DeBartolo was selected as the sole candidate for the class of 2016 in the contributor category, which honors individuals who made outstanding contributions to professional football in capacities other than playing or coaching.

After purchasing the 49ers in 1977, DeBartolo helped the team to five Super Bowl championships and 16 consecutive seasons of 10 or more wins during his 23 years as the owner. The five championships the 49ers won in 14 years remains a record total for a single owner.

The 49ers recently announced plans to unveil The Edward J. DeBartolo Jr. Super Bowl Gallery at the team's Levi's Stadium museum, honoring the former owner.

By David Bonilla
Feb 16

Brock Purdy has just completed his second NFL season, which means he's under contract with the San Francisco 49ers for two more years. The team is allowed to begin negotiating a contract extension after the 2024 season. With a salary cap hit of around $1 million next season, Purdy's contract provides the 49ers with some flexibility, allowing them to allocate funds elsewhere on the roster. However, the 49ers are undoubtedly looking ahead, aware that Purdy will eventually demand a larger share of the team's cap space. With the next significant contract anticipated for wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, a debate has arisen regarding the long-term likelihood of retaining both Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel. With some big financial decisions looming, it might only be feasible to

Game manager or game changer? RG3 weighs in on 49ers QB Brock Purdy

By David Bonilla
Feb 17

The debate between game manager versus game-changer continues, even after Brock Purdy helped guide the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl. While the quarterback has done everything asked of him, aided by his talented supporting cast, there remain skeptics who persist in downplaying his achievements. Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III, who once played in head coach Kyle Shanahan's offense, is not among Purdy's doubters. Speaking to Jason McCourty on Griffin's podcast, "RG3 and The Ones," Griffin shared his thoughts on the 49ers' quarterback. Griffin reflects on Purdy's season and his Super Bowl appearance, insisting it's challenging to come away from his performances believing the 24-year-old quarterback is merely a game manager.
